Where We Are Headed & What We Have Forgotten

By: Jeremy Caverley
Some say that we are already here, but this is where we are headed if things don't change.

com·mu·nism

1. A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members.

2. Communism

a. A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.

b. The Marxist-Leninist version of Communist doctrine that advocates the overthrow of capitalism by the revolution of the proletariat.

so·cial·ism

1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.

  1. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.

Marx·ism

The political and economic philosophy of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in which the concept of class struggle plays a central role in understanding society's allegedly inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and ultimately classless society.

THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE FORGOTTEN

Poem at foot of statue of liberty

The New Colossus

By Emma Lazarus, 1883

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

"A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
John Stuart Mill

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act but a habit. - Aristotle

"It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to emplore His protection and favor." George Washington

"Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened." Billy Graham

It is time that we take a stand against the way our country is going! The tea parties are all well and good, but it will take an even more push and networking action in the faith community.

Yes, Christians must unite during this historic time to bring our nation back to God. I pray that the Lord speaks to those who will hear the call and lead us to our knees in forgiveness for what we have done to America.

KUHNER: President's socialist takeover must be stopped

President Obama has engaged in numerous high crimes and misdemeanors. The Democratic majority in Congress is in peril as Americans reject his agenda. Yet more must be done: Mr. Obama should be impeached.

He is slowly - piece by painful piece - erecting a socialist dictatorship. We are not there - yet. But he is putting America on that dangerous path. He is undermining our constitutional system of checks and balances; subverting democratic procedures and the rule of law; presiding over a corrupt, gangster regime; and assaulting the very pillars of traditional capitalism. Like Venezuela's leftist strongman, Hugo Chavez, Mr. Obama is bent on imposing a revolution from above - one that is polarizing America along racial, political and ideological lines. Mr. Obama is the most divisive president since Richard Nixon. His policies are Balkanizing the country. It's time for him to go.

New Poll In Ohio Shows People Would Rather Have Bush As President Right Now: Bush 50 Obama 42

Link to original article:Previewing Ohio

We'll start rolling out our Ohio poll results tomorrow but there's one finding on the poll that pretty much sums it up: by a 50-42 margin voters there say they'd rather have George W. Bush in the White House right now than Barack Obama.

Independents hold that view by a 44-37 margin and there are more Democrats who would take Bush back (11%) than there are Republicans who think Obama's preferable (3%.)

A couple months ago I thought the Pennsylvanias and Missouris and Ohios of the world were the biggest battlegrounds for 2010 but when you see numbers like this it makes you think it's probably actually the Californias and the Wisconsins and the Washingtons.

There's not much doubt things are getting worse for Democrats...and they were already pretty bad. Somehow the party base needs to get reinvigorated over the next two months or there's going to be a very, very steep price to pay.

Abbas Wants Peace, Says He Is Against The Attacks

“We do not want any blood to be shed, one drop of blood, on the part of the Israelis or the Palestinians,” he said, addressing Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who was among the leaders to share the dais with him. “We want them to live as neighbors and partners forever. Let us sign an agreement, a final agreement, for peace and put an end to a very long period of struggle forever.”

“I will not let the terrorists block our path to peace,” he said, though he added, “These events underscore once again that peace must be anchored in security.”

Netanyahu also directly addressed Abbas, turning to him from the podium and saying, “President Abbas, you are my partner in peace.”

“I came here today to find a historic compromise,” he declared. “I didn’t come here to find excuses or to make them. I came to find solutions.”

“We call on the Israelis to carry out their obligations, including a freeze on settlements activities – which is not setting a precondition but a call to implement an agreed obligation – and to end all the closure and blockade, preventing freedom of movement, including the [Gaza] siege,” he said.

“We want a peace that will correct the historical injustice caused by the nakba of 1948, and one that brings security to our people and the Israeli people,” he continued, using the Arabic word for “catastrophe” associated with the founding of the State of Israel.

“Settlement activities in the Palestinian territory are contrary to international law. They will not create rights for Israel, nor are they going to achieve peace or security for Israel,” he said in Arabic. “It is, therefore, a priority to completely freeze all these activities until the entire negotiation process comes to a successful end.”

Mubarak urged Israel to “seize the current opportunity” and “not let it slip through your fingers.”

Abdullah, who spoke after Mubarak, also stressed the possibilities and urgency of the current situation.

“The direct negotiations that will start tomorrow must show results -- and sooner rather than later. Time is not on our side,” he warned.

“There are those on both sides who want us to fail, who will do everything in their power to disrupt our efforts,” he noted. “This is why we must prevail. For our failure would be their success in sinking the region into more instability and wars that will cause further suffering in our region and beyond.”

Time ToTurn The Page:Combat Operations In Iraq Are Over

“We have sent our young men and women to make enormous sacrifices in Iraq, and spent vast resources abroad at a time of tight budgets at home,” Mr. Obama said. “Through this remarkable chapter in the history of the United States and Iraq, we have met our responsibility. Now, it’s time to turn the page.”

Mr. Obama said. “A war to disarm a state became a fight against an insurgency. Terrorism and sectarian warfare threatened to tear Iraq apart. Thousands of Americans gave their lives; tens of thousands have been wounded. Our relations abroad were strained. Our unity at home was tested.”

As I hear Obama say "turn the page" I am reminded of the song with the same name by Bob Seger which I will quote some of the lyrics:

On a long and lonesome highway...

When you're ridin' sixteen hours

And there's nothin' much to do
And you don't feel much like ridin',
You just wish the trip was through...

And you always seem outnumbered,

You don't dare make a stand...

Out there in the spotlight

You're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy
You try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body
Like the music that you play...

As you lie awake in bed

With the echoes from the amplifiers
Ringin' in your head...

Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the page

Seger must have understood what trials and adversity was all about from the lyrics found in his song.

Our troops have given there all, and this one thing that remains true; the endurance through adversity our troops has shown. Even though it is time to move on. Some troops remain in Iraq and will hold the course to the end.

Only in the hands of the Iraqis will this war ever truly end. Even after we all pull out and give the complete control over to them, it will then be their final decision on which course they will take.

For now as we "turn the page" let us remind ourselves we are Americans and we do fight for freedom and the truth and happiness of not just for our country but that all mankind know peace, hope, and prosperity in their own country.

This is not a time to fight over should we have been there or not, but a time to help heal these 100,00 troops that are coming home. Some with wounds you can't see.

I pray that the Lord touches all the troops involved and their families and friends. May Jesus cover them all. I ask You Lord Jesus to bring healing to our country and bring us back into Your arms.

Homelessness Up 50% In New York City

Link to original article

MYFOXNY.COM - If you think you've been seeing more people sleep on city streets, statistics back up the perception. The homeless population living on New York City streets has gone up 50 percent in the past year, according to city statistics reported by the HellsKitchenLife.com blog.

The New York City Department of Homeless Services conducts a yearly survey of the streets of the city to count the number of homeless who are not in shelters. The HOPE survey was conducted in January 2010.

The number of homeless in the borough of Manhattan was up 47 percent in the past year, according to the count. The 2010 count had 1,145 people living in the streets. That is up 368 from 2009.

Brooklyn had the biggest increase of any borough. It saw a homeless increase of more than 100 percent in 2010.

More than 1,000 people now live in New York City's subway system -- up 11 percent in the past year.

For example, the DHS says it provided temporary, emergency shelter to 8,230 families with children -- equating to 25,204 adults and children in July. But the agency says shelters have seen fewer families. From October 2009 through June 2010, shelters had 11 percent fewer children, who are now back in homes of their own.

California Law Enforcement Allowed To Secretly Put GPS Device On Your Car

Click to read full story from CNN

(CNN) -- Law enforcement officers may secretly place a GPS device on a person's car without seeking a warrant from a judge, according to a recent federal appeals court ruling in California.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents in Oregon in 2007 surreptitiously attached a GPS to the silver Jeep owned by Juan Pineda-Moreno, whom they suspected of growing marijuana, according to court papers.

When Pineda-Moreno was arrested and charged, one piece of evidence was the GPS data, including the longitude and latitude of where the Jeep was driven, and how long it stayed. Prosecutors asserted the Jeep had been driven several times to remote rural locations where agents discovered marijuana being grown, court documents show.

Pineda-Moreno eventually pleaded guilty to conspiracy to grow marijuana, and is serving a 51-month sentence, according to his lawyer.

But he appealed on the grounds that sneaking onto a person's driveway and secretly tracking their car violates a person's reasonable expectation of privacy.

"They went onto the property several times in the middle of the night without his knowledge and without his permission," said his lawyer, Harrison Latto.

The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the appeal twice -- in January of this year by a three-judge panel, and then again by the full court earlier this month. The judges who affirmed Pineda-Moreno's conviction did so without comment.

Latto says the Ninth Circuit decision means law enforcement can place trackers on cars, without seeking a court's permission, in the nine western states the California-based circuit covers.

The ruling likely won't be the end of the matter. A federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., arrived at a different conclusion in similar case, saying officers who attached a GPS to the car of a suspected drug dealer should have sought a warrant.

Experts say the issue could eventually reach the U.S. Supreme Court.

As a person who was beaten, raped and nearly murdered by a man who was a follower of Satanism it is scary to read this article.

Our prayer is that, The Holy Spirit rip the veil off the eyes of the people who are attending this and for those who are thinking of attending. To show them this is pure evil and that nothing good will come of following Satan. And that some way some how this event is stopped before it is too late.

The man who beat, and raped me was my ex-husband. Who was deep into the whole Satanist Occult experience which at the time of our marriage I did not know about. And He knowing I was a Christian tried to convert me after we were married and when I wouldn't, began to abuse me. Only by the Power of God/Jesus Christ am I here to day to be able to share a bit of my story with you. To show that delving into the occult is the most dangerous thing anyone can ever do. It destroys lives and families and tries to take peoples souls.

Vice President Biden Travels To Iraq To Official End The War

Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Iraq on Monday to participate in a ceremony marking the end of the U.S. combat mission there, according to the White House.

He was greeted in Baghdad by U.S. Ambassador Jim Jeffrey, outgoing U.S. commander Gen. Ray Odierno and Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.

While in the country, Biden will meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, President Jalal Talabani, Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi, Vice President Adil Abd al-Mahdi and other political leaders "to discuss the latest developments in Iraq and to urge Iraqi leaders to conclude negotiations on the formation of a new government," the White House said in a written statement.

The United States' official combat mission in Iraq is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday. Roughly 50,000 troops, however, will remain in the country until the end of 2011. Their mission will be to train, assist and advise the Iraqis.

President Obama is scheduled to deliver an Oval Office address on the seven-year Iraqi conflict on Tuesday night.

"As a candidate for this office, I pledged I would end this war. As president, that is what I am doing," Obama said Saturday in his weekly address.

"The bottom line is this: The war is ending. Like any sovereign, independent nation, Iraq is free to chart its own course. And by the end of next year, all of our troops will be home," the president added.

Volcano In Indonesia Erupts

Click to read full story from Fox News

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -- A volcano in western Indonesia spewed hot lava and sand high into the sky early Sunday in its first eruption in 400 years.

Government volcanologist Surono, who uses only one name, said Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra province started rumbling a few days ago and the minor morning eruption has mostly stopped.

It sent sand and ash up to a mile (1.5 kilometers) high but lava only moved near its crater. It caused no major damage and "only dust covered plants and trees," he said.

He said Mount Sinabung last erupted in 1600, so observers don't know the volcano's eruption pattern and are monitoring it closely for more activity.

Evacuations on the volcano's slopes started Friday at the first signs of activity. Up to 10,000 people who fled are staying in government buildings, houses of worship and other evacuation centers in two nearby towns.

The government has distributed 7,000 masks to refugees and set up public kitchens so people can cook food, said Priyadi Kardono, spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency.
