Here’s one home that any kid can appreciate. The home made famous by the booby-trapping antics of Macaulay Culkin in the 1990 holiday hit movie, “Home Alone,” is now for sale for $2.4 million.
Located in the village of Winnetka, IL, which is approximately 20 miles north of downtown Chicago, the Home Alone house at is located at 671 Lincoln Ave., a stately Georgian on a quiet tree-lined street that is easily recognizable from the movie by its red-brick exterior and stately white columns.According to Reuters, John and Cynthia Abendshien own the 5-bedroom, 3.5-bath home and are downsizing since their daughter is grown. The couple lived in the home during the six-month long film shoot and Culkin even became their daughter’s friend.
The home is on .53 acres and features a gourmet kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, a sunroom, a dormered attic bedroom and a detached garage. It is located just a few blocks from Lake Michigan. Winnetka real estate can be quite pricey and the village is considered to be the richest in Illinois; Winnetka’s median home value is $777,900.

U.S.A Restaurant Owner Fined For Flying American Flags
Some American flags in Crystal River are causing a stir.
Linda Downey is the owner of Taste of Philly in Crystal River. She put six flags on her restaurant to honor the military and her two sons serving in the Navy.
However, the City of Crystal River says the number of flags is a code violation. The city's flag ordinance says businesses cannot fly more than three flag within city limits.
City leaders say the flag ordinance is in place to ensure that the American flag is not overly-commercialized. Even so, leaders admit some changes to the code might be necessary.
In the meantime, Downey says there is no way the flags are coming down.
"All these people fighting for our country and we're not allowed to display flags in their honor," Downey said.
Raymond Colvard served in the Air Force. He appreciates the gesture and says the flags need to stay.
"I think they should change their law," Colvard said. "If it is a law on their books change it."
The Crystal River City Council will meet Monday at 7pm. Discussion about the ordinance is expected.
Teen Pleads Guilty To Burning Down Historic Church
A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 545 days in jail for his role in the torching of a 118-year-old southern Indiana church listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
He's one of eight Columbus teenagers charged in connection with the July 2010 fire, which destroyed the Grandview Apostolic Church.
Dalton J. Poe of Columbus pleaded guilty Monday to institutional criminal mischief. The Republic says in exchange for the plea, authorities agreed to dismiss arson and conspiracy charges.
Twenty-year-old Skylar Ping has accepted a plea deal, while other defendants await trial.
Investigators say the teens decided to burn down the church last July after taking LSD and coming to believe that it belonged to Satan worshipers.
Pakistani Muslims Stage Protests Over U.S Killing Osama Bin Laden
Hundreds of people marched through Multan, burning U.S. flags and waving placards as they warned the terrorist's death could produce many more radical figures to take his place.
It comes after crowds of weeping mourners were pictured offering funeral prayers for the Al Qaeda mastermind widely blamed for thousands of deaths at 9/11.
Hate: Pakistani men burn a U.S. flag during angry protests in the city of Multan. Hundreds marched through the streets in protest at the killing of Osama bin Laden
Threatening: Demonstrators claimed that the killing of Bin Laden would produce many more terrorists to take his place
They will heap further pressure on the British government to justify the £650million aid package sent to a country where so many appear to hate us.
Only today Lashkar-e-Taiba - the militants behind the Mumbai terror attack - said Bin Laden's 'martyrdom' would not be in vain.
David Cameron has insisted it is in Britain's national interest to continue to co-operate with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism as debate intensified over a £650m aid package handed the country just weeks ago.
The Prime Minister said there were 'searching questions' for the Pakistani government to answer after U.S. special forces tracked down the Al Qaeda leader to a large villa complex close to the country's leading military academy.
U.S Unemployment Rises To 9.0%
The U.S. economy added more jobs than forecast in April, easing concern that higher fuel prices are slowing the economic recovery.
Payrolls increased by 244,000 workers last month, the biggest gain since May 2010, after a revised 221,000 gain the prior month, the Labor Department said today in Washington. Economists projected an April rise of 185,000, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg News survey. Employment excluding government jobs jumped the most in five years. The jobless rate rose to 9 percent, the first increase since November.
More jobs and rising wages may give households, whose spending accounts for 70 percent of the economy, the means to overcome the highest gasoline prices in almost three years. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke and some of his colleagues have signaled they plan to forge ahead through June with record monetary stimulus to bolster the expansion.
“The recovery has progressed into the self-propelling stage, where it’s less vulnerable to short-term swings in sentiment,” said Jim O’Sullivan, chief economist at MF Global Inc. in New York, who forecast a gain of 250,000 jobs.
Stock-index futures rose and Treasuries fell after the report. The contract on the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index expiring in June climbed 0.9 percent to 1,347.5 at 8:48 a.m. in New York. The yield on the benchmark 10-year note increased to 3.23 percent from 3.15 percent.

National Day of Prayer Today May 5th
On Friday, the White House released a presidential proclamation marking today's observance of the National Day of Prayer -- the constitutionality of which was affirmed in a recent federal court ruling. "Throughout our history, Americans have turned to prayer for strength, inspiration, and solidarity," President Barack Obama states in the proclamation. "Prayer has played an important role in the American story and in shaping our nation's leaders."
Michael Calhoun, director of communications for the NDP Task Force, concurs, noting prayer has been an "indispensible" part of the nation's heritage. "We must remain faithful in our commitment to intercede on behalf of our nation and its leaders -- especially at this challenging time."
Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association, says it is important that people pray for America's national leaders -- whether they agree with those leaders or not.
“We need to pray for godly wisdom for our country,” Wildmon says. “That's what we're asking people to do on the National Day of Prayer...remember to honor God with our individual lives and pray for our future here in America because we desperately need God's help -- and without him we will not survive.
Abortion Bill Update- HOUSE Passed "No Funding for Abortion Act"
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 4, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The House on Wednesday afternoon voted 251-175 to pass H.R. 3, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, which makes permanent and universal the annually-approved Hyde amendment. In its current form, the Hyde amendment, which bans federal funding for abortion except for in cases of rape and incest, requires annual approval.
The bill was authored by veteran pro-life leader Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and sported at least 227 co-sponsors by the time of the vote.
“When public funding and facilitation for abortion isn’t available, children have a greater chance at survival,” said Smith in the general debate before the final vote this afternoon.
“I remember the late Congressman Henry Hyde being moved literally to tears ... when he learned that the Hyde amendment had likely saved the lives of more than one million babies, who today are getting on with their lives, going to school, forging a career,” he added.
In the final vote, all Republicans either voted for or sponsored the bill; 16 Democrats favored it as well (Rep.s Altmire, Boren, Costello, Critz, Cuellar, Donnelly, Holden, Kaptur, Kildee, Lipinski, Matheson, McIntyre, Peterson, Rahall, Ross of Arizona, and Shuler).
The bill is expected to meet with stiffer odds in the Democrat-led Senate, which in March struck down a measure to de-fund abortion giant Planned Parenthood that had strongly passed in the House. President Obama has already threatened to veto H.R. 3.
