Harold Camping To Make Official Statement Monday On Failed Rapture Prediction
Harold Camping on Monday is expected to deliver his first public statement on his failed Judgment Day prediction.
In a breaking news post, International Business Times reports that Camping told the paper he would make his statement in a "public forum" sometime on Monday to explain why he had chosen May 21, 2011, as Judgment Day and why it had failed.
Asked why Camping has been silent until now, the Christian radio broadcaster told IBTimes that he needed time to "think and recover" after the rapture didn't happen.
According to the international paper, Camping will "explain everything" in Monday's public forum.
The exact time of the public forum was not announced.
Camping's comments to IBTimes revealed much more information than San Francisco Chronicle, the only other media outlet that has been able to reach the Family Radio president post-May 21.
Many papers reported that the doomsday preacher had gone "missing" after 6 p.m., the hour he had predicted would signal the rapture of Christians to heaven.
Speaking to the Chronicle, Camping sounded just as puzzled as the followers who believed him. The 89-year-old remarked that he was "flabbergasted" that his calculation was was off and indicated he would "say more" when he returns back to work on Monday.
Camping's flirtation with end times predictions has left the preacher, according to his own words to the Chronicle, "looking for answers," but has caused widespread, and in some cases, irreparable damage.
Some of his followers sold everything to finance the marketing of the May 21 message and now are left with nothing.
Adrienne and Joel Martinez, parents to a toddler daughter and expecting a baby on the way, quit their jobs in Orlando and decided to spend all of their money.
Meanwhile, on the Internet, Christians who didn't buy into Camping's doomsday message still had to join the battle as they defended the incessant ridicule of atheists nationwide.
"The guy who guaranteed May 21st as Judgment Day just forced me to do some damage control for the faith at Starbucks," Dare 2 Share founder Greg Stier tweeted earlier.
Evangelical Christian leaders also weighed in on the Judgment Day sensation, some with outrage, and others with an evangelistic message.
On Saturday, Ed Stetzer, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s LifeWay Research, called on Camping to publicly repent.
“Harold Camping, pls update www.family.radio.com w/your repentance statement & instructions to your now-broke followers,” Stetzer said via Twitter.
Will Graham, grandson of Billy Graham, meanwhile, saw the heightened news interest as a chance to reach out to more people.
"Harold couldn't be more right. The end of the world is coming," Graham told The Christian Post. "We just don't know the time of it."
"Whether Christ comes or judgment comes, we never really know when death might come so we should always be ready to stand before God," he said.
98 yr old Dons Wedding Dress She Wore In 1938 For Special Occasion
MUSKEGON, Mich. — A West Michigan woman has strolled down the aisle in her wedding dress for a second time. The first time came 73 years ago.
Agnes Anderson wore the dress in 1938 when she married her college sweetheart, Delmar Anderson, in Youngstown, Ohio. The Andersons' marriage lasted more than 50 years until Delmar's death in 1989.
Her second trip down the aisle came last week at a vintage bridal gown fashion show at a church in Muskegon.
The 98-year-old from Muskegon County's Laketon Township says the dress was in mint condition when she retrieved it from a storage box.Dick Anderson escorted his mother into the church sanctuary and to the altar.
The Muskegon Chronicle says the fashion show featured 20 bridal gowns that dated from 1933 to 2006.
Obama Effectively Ruined America's Relationship With Israel
A Jerusalem-based Messianic Jewish ministry dedicated to solidarity with Israel says President Barack Obama has effectively destroyed the special relationship between Israel and the United States with his demand that the Jewish nation return to its pre-1967 borders.
President Obama has been forced to concede that he has serious differences with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the question of a future state for the Palestinians. After Friday's lengthy meeting in the Oval Office, Netanyahu told Obama that Israel values the U.S. president's efforts to advance the peace process, but he made it clear that Israel cannot return to the 1967 borders, which he calls "indefensible."
"There's a traditional, special relationship between America and Israel that Obama is basically throwing out the window in a sense," laments David Parsons, spokesman for the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ). "Obama has declared the settlements are no longer legitimate and [that Israel has to] go back to the '67 line."And Parsons believes some serious questions will be raised about Obama's leadership in places like Europe.
"They may...be an even more important player now," he suggests. "They'll probably jump on this line of the '67 borders, but even they are starting to have questions about President Obama in the foreign policy field [and] the fact that he's just not being coherent and clear in enunciating policies that are really in our interest."
But now that the Palestinian Authority has the support of Obama, the ICEJ spokesman predicts the Palestinians will dig in their heels on the border issue.

Zero Tolerance Policy Gone Crazy In One Maryland School
Two lacrosse players from a Maryland high school have been suspended, one who was charged with possession of a deadly weapon after authorities found a penknife he used to repair sports equipment.
On a rumor that alcohol was on the team bus, school officials searched the players' belongings and turned up a lighter in one boy's bag and a penknife in another, which were used for repairing equipment. But both were suspended, and the athlete with the penknife is being charged with juvenile possession of a deadly weapon. So John Whitehead of The Rutherford Institute is defending the two.
"Under Maryland law, neither the lighter nor the penknife are dangerous weapons, so why the arrests? Why throw these kids out of school [and suspend] them," Whitehead wonders. "It's just another case of zero tolerance gone crazy."He points out that records of the arrests could follow the students throughout their lives, which could give them trouble with getting into the college of their choice.
"So we've sent a letter; we're demanding that [the school] clean the records up," the attorney explains. "We have a criminal lawyer working on the criminal charges." But if the school does not comply, he says, "We'll go to court."
So far, the Talbot County Board of Education has not responded to their requests.
Gay Columnist Says Homosexual Activists Agenda Is To Indoctrinate School Children
Wed May 18, 2011 13:53 EST
Queerty contributor Daniel Villarreal criticized (WARNING site contains inappropriate images) the homosexual movement’s knee-jerk reaction against accusations of meddling in public schools. Villarreal pointed to a recent National Organization for Marriage (NOM) ad launched in New York that points out how homosexual indoctrination has been introduced in Massachusetts and California schools.
While gay activists usually deny that they want to indoctrinate children, said Villarreal, “let’s face it—that’s a lie.” “We want educators to teach future generations of children to accept queer sexuality. In fact, our very future depends on it,” he wrote.
Villarreal pointed to the tactics of a gay activist group FCKH8, which fought a recent Tennessee bill prohibiting classroom discussion of homosexuality in grade school by “hir[ing]some little girls to drop F-bombs” in their controversial online ad campaign, and handing out gay paraphernalia to schoolchildren. “Recruiting children? You bet we are,” he said.
“Why would we push anti-bullying programs or social studies classes that teach kids about the historical contributions of famous queers unless we wanted to deliberately educate children to accept queer sexuality as normal?”
In fact, Villarreal said that his dream of increasing not only the acceptance, but the future practice of homosexuality among youngsters was common among those in the gay lobby.
“I and a lot of other people want to indoctrinate, recruit, teach, and expose children to queer sexuality AND THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT,” he wrote.
New York is seeing a renewed push for same-sex “marriage,” with supporters hoping to see passage of a new marriage definition before the end of the legislative session on June 20.
A similar initiative had failed in 2009, but gay rights strategists are hopeful that power shifts in the legislature since then, including two more senatorial seats in favor of gay “marriage,” will result in a different outcome. Supporters also cite rising support for gay “marriage” in polls among New Yorkers, with 58 percent reportedly saying they back the change in a recent poll.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg lobbied lawmakers in Albany on Tuesday to overturn the traditional definition of marriage in the state.
Tennessee Senate Passes Bill To Ban Teaching Of Homosexuality
By LUCAS L. JOHNSON II
Associated Press
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A bill passed Friday by the Tennessee Senate would forbid public school teachers and students in grades kindergarten through eight from discussing the fact that some people are gay.
Opponents deride the measure as the "don't say gay bill." They say it's unfair to the children of gay parents and could lead to more bullying. Supporters say it is intended to give teachers clear guidance for dealing with younger children on a potentially explosive topic.
The bill isn't likely to be taken up by the House before lawmakers adjourn this spring, but the sponsor there has said he would push it forward in 2012 when the General Assembly comes back for the second year of the session.
Passage would make Tennessee the first state to enact such legislation, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. In 2003, Washington defeated a proposal similar to Tennessee's, as did California in 2005 and 2006. A Louisiana law forbids the use of sexually explicit materials depicting homosexuality in sex education classes.
Under the proposal, any instruction or materials at a public elementary or middle school would be limited to age-appropriate lessons about the science of human reproduction.
The legislation was amended from the original version, which said no elementary or middle schools will "provide any instruction or material that discusses sexual orientation other than heterosexuality." Republican Senate sponsor Stacey Campfield of Knoxville said some of his colleagues were uncomfortable with that language.
"There's more than one way to skin a cat," Campfield said after the vote. "I got what I wanted."
He said the language is appropriate because "homosexuals don't naturally reproduce," and he said it's necessary because the state's curriculum is unclear on what can be taught.
However, a critic said the new wording could create other problems.
Sen. Roy Herron, D- Dresden, said it "may inadvertently prevent the teaching of ethics, morality and abstinence."
Stephen Smith, assistant commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Education, also said he's unaware of homosexuality being taught anywhere in the state. He said there is nothing in the state's curriculum standards that allows students to be taught about homosexuality.
Colorado Man Who Lied About His Military Service Fighting For Rights To Tell Lies
The problem was none of it was true, not even his name.
Mr. Duncan was actually Richard G. Strandlof, a troubled drifter who had never served in the military. Instead, he used his bogus story to work his way into the company of prominent politicians and admiring veterans.
Mr. Strandlof was eventually arrested by the F.B.I. and charged with violating the Stolen Valor Act, a 2006 law that makes it a federal crime to lie about being a military hero.
But though he admitted conjuring the entire tale, Mr. Strandlof has been fighting the case against him, arguing that the law violates his right to free speech. Simply telling a lie, his lawyers assert, does not always constitute a crime.
Now, a federal appeals court in Denver is weighing whether the act is indeed unconstitutional. Last July, a judge dismissed the case against Mr. Strandlof on First Amendment grounds, but prosecutors appealed.
Mr. Strandlof’s case is the latest legal challenge to the Stolen Valor Act. The appellate court’s ruling in Colorado — expected in the next few months — is being eagerly awaited by legal experts and veterans groups, as it will most likely determine whether the United States Supreme Court takes up the matter.
“Stolen Valor is not just lying: it is stealing an identity of a combat hero or a wounded soldier,” said Doug Sterner, a Vietnam veteran who helped draft the law’s language and who has spent years tracking down those who falsely claim to be war heroes. “Why should the Army give out a Silver Star to someone who performs heroically if anybody who wants one can buy a medal, print a citation and claim it with impunity?”Since Congress passed the Stolen Valor Act, the Justice Department has prosecuted more than 60 people for violating it — penalties can range from up to a year in prison to fines and community service. Mr. Sterner says thousands of cases are reported each year.
But the recent challenges have left the law’s future uncertain.
Family Doctor Fears Losing His Job For Talking About God With A Patient
A family doctor, Dr Richard Scott, fears losing his job after he was reprimanded by the General Medical Council for talking to a patient about God.
The committed Christian, was accused of “harassment” and told by the medical regulator that he risked bringing the profession into disrepute by discussing his religious beliefs.
The Cambridge-educated doctor has refused to accept a formal warning on his record, and is instead taking legal action to fight the censure.
His case follows a series of high-profile disputes between Christians and their employers over their freedom to express their beliefs, including an electrician who displayed a cross in his van and a nurse who prayed for a patient.
Dr Scott, 50, a married father of three, saw the patient who is at centre of the complaint in 2010.
Following the consultation, the patient’s mother complained that the doctor had abused his position by “pushing religion” on her son.
