NEW DATE: Harold Camping Predicts Rapture is now October 21st

An unapologetic Harold Camping made a new prediction Monday: the rapture is actually on Oct. 21, not May 21 as he originally proclaimed.

Camping offered no sincere apology when he spoke publicly Monday for the first time since his failed May 21 Judgment Day prediction. He insisted that his predictions have been right all along, only that his interpretation was more literal when it should have been spiritual.

Judgment Day on May 21 did come, said Camping. However, he clarified that the Judgment Day arrived in a spiritual sense rather than manifesting physically.

"On May 21, this last weekend, this is where the spiritual aspect of it really comes through. God again brought judgment on the world. We didn’t see any difference but God brought Judgment Day to bear upon the whole world. The whole world is under Judgment Day and it will continue right up until Oct. 21, 2011 and by that time the whole world will be destroyed," he proclaimed.

The president of Family Radio said he agreed to speak because many people have been asking and that he had to "honorably" face that.

"Are you ready to shoot yourself or go on booze trip or whatever?" Camping said of people's questions to him.

"I can tell you very candidly that when May 21 came and went, it was a very difficult time for me, a very difficult time. I was wondering, 'What is going on?'" he said, speaking from the organization's headquarters in Oakland, Calif.

The 89-year-old radio broadcaster said he prayed and reviewed the Bible and concluded that he had been looking at the Bible more factually than spiritually.

"The Bible is a very spiritual book. There are a lot of things that are very factual, very factual, of course, but there are a lot of things that are very spiritual. How to know whether to look at it with a spiritual understanding or a factual understanding is hard to know," said Camping.

"The fact is when we look at it more spiritually then we find that He did come."

Camping then firmly stated that Oct. 21, 2011, is still the date of the End of the World.

On May 21, "God brought Judgment Day to the whole world. The whole world is on Judgment Day. It will continue to Oct. 21, 2011 and at that time the whole world will be destroyed."

It was Camping's first official statement to be released post-May 21.

His comments Monday were broadcast live, beginning 8:30 p.m. ET during the Family Radio's "Open Forum" program, by radio through the organization’s FM stations and by television on KFTL Channel 28. Members of the press were allowed to sit inside the Family Radio office and listen as Camping delivered his statement.

During his statement and in the Q&A session with reporters that followed, the soothsayer strongly defended the accuracy of all his previous Judgment Day predictions.

He broke down each of his predictions, saying they were all fulfilled: May 21, 1988, judgment came upon the churches; Sept. 7, 1994, judgment continued on the churches; then on May 21, 2011, judgment came upon the entire world.

"We are not changing the dates at all. We are just looking at it a little more spiritually but it won't be spiritual on Oct. 21 because the Bible teaches the world will be destroyed altogether. But it will be very quick," said Camping.

Camping remained undeterred in his beliefs while speaking to reporters. He admitted that he was "wrong" in his interpretation of the spiritual aspect of May 21 but refused to accept fault for the timeline of his doomsday predictions.

"We have not made a mistake as so far as the timeline, the unfolding," he said.

Camping's latest predictions had resulted in chaos among his followers and others who believed him. Some quit their jobs, others sold all their possessions before the rapture date, and one mother tried to kill her two children.

Despite being asked several times whether he would take responsibility for the incidents that transpired, Camping deflected every time, saying he was just a "humble Bible teacher" who was merely relaying the message found in the Bible.

"I don't have any responsibility. I don't have any responsibility of anybody's life. I'm only teaching the Bible. I'm simply saying, 'This is what the Bible says.'"

Israel PM at AIPAC: 'Support for Israel unites America.'

In Washington, Netanyahu addresses American Israel Public Affairs Committee on second day of their annual conference; remarks come one day after President Barack Obama clarifies remarks on 1967 borders at same podium.

Israel is with America as much as America is with Israel, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on the second day of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's annual conference in Washington on Monday.

Netanyahu opened his speech by offering his condolences on the many American deaths following a tornado in Joplin, Miss. "America, we're with you, on this day, and everyday," the prime minister told the AIPAC conference. "Israel is America's indispensible ally."

Netanyahu spoke admirably of the words of Abraham Lincoln and pointed out the vast similarities between American and Israeli culture, noting that both are cultures of learning and ideas. Lincoln's writings resonate, he said, because "They're rooted in ideas, first championed by our people - the Jewish people." This is the reason, Netanyahu said, that Jerusalem must remain undivided.

"Israel is the cradle of our civilization, and the modern state of Israel was founded precisely on these eternal values," he said, adding that this civilization was born and fostered in "our eternal capital: the united city of Jerusalem." This remark was met by resounding applause.

"Support for Israel does not divide America, it unites America," he said.

Netanyahu acknowledged the difficult economic times faced in the United States, and thanked the government for their continued economic support.
"I want to thank the President and Congress for providing Israel with vital assistance so that Israel can defend itself by itself," he said.

Netanyahu's address came a day after US President Barack Obama addressed AIPAC,
where he defended his formulation for an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal and made clarifications that put his comments more in line with Israeli positions. Obama reiterated statements from his Middle East speech on Thursday that a Palestinian state should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed land swaps, which had sparked outrage from many in the pro-Israel community.

Harold Camping To Make Official Statement Monday On Failed Rapture Prediction

By Elena Garcia | Christian Post Reporter
Harold Camping on Monday is expected to deliver his first public statement on his failed Judgment Day prediction.

In a breaking news post, International Business Times reports that Camping told the paper he would make his statement in a "public forum" sometime on Monday to explain why he had chosen May 21, 2011, as Judgment Day and why it had failed.

Asked why Camping has been silent until now, the Christian radio broadcaster told IBTimes that he needed time to "think and recover" after the rapture didn't happen.

According to the international paper, Camping will "explain everything" in Monday's public forum.

The exact time of the public forum was not announced.

Camping's comments to IBTimes revealed much more information than San Francisco Chronicle, the only other media outlet that has been able to reach the Family Radio president post-May 21.

Many papers reported that the doomsday preacher had gone "missing" after 6 p.m., the hour he had predicted would signal the rapture of Christians to heaven.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Camping sounded just as puzzled as the followers who believed him. The 89-year-old remarked that he was "flabbergasted" that his calculation was was off and indicated he would "say more" when he returns back to work on Monday.

Camping's flirtation with end times predictions has left the preacher, according to his own words to the Chronicle, "looking for answers," but has caused widespread, and in some cases, irreparable damage.

Some of his followers sold everything to finance the marketing of the May 21 message and now are left with nothing.

Adrienne and Joel Martinez, parents to a toddler daughter and expecting a baby on the way, quit their jobs in Orlando and decided to spend all of their money.

Meanwhile, on the Internet, Christians who didn't buy into Camping's doomsday message still had to join the battle as they defended the incessant ridicule of atheists nationwide.

"The guy who guaranteed May 21st as Judgment Day just forced me to do some damage control for the faith at Starbucks," Dare 2 Share founder Greg Stier tweeted earlier.

Evangelical Christian leaders also weighed in on the Judgment Day sensation, some with outrage, and others with an evangelistic message.

On Saturday, Ed Stetzer, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s LifeWay Research, called on Camping to publicly repent.

“Harold Camping, pls update www.family.radio.com w/your repentance statement & instructions to your now-broke followers,” Stetzer said via Twitter.

Will Graham, grandson of Billy Graham, meanwhile, saw the heightened news interest as a chance to reach out to more people.

"Harold couldn't be more right. The end of the world is coming," Graham told The Christian Post. "We just don't know the time of it."

"Whether Christ comes or judgment comes, we never really know when death might come so we should always be ready to stand before God," he said.

98 yr old Dons Wedding Dress She Wore In 1938 For Special Occasion

updated 5/18/2011 7:13:44 PM ET

A West Michigan woman has strolled down the aisle in her wedding dress for a second time. The first time came 73 years ago.

Agnes Anderson wore the dress in 1938 when she married her college sweetheart, Delmar Anderson, in Youngstown, Ohio. The Andersons' marriage lasted more than 50 years until Delmar's death in 1989.

Her second trip down the aisle came last week at a vintage bridal gown fashion show at a church in Muskegon.

The 98-year-old from Muskegon County's Laketon Township says the dress was in mint condition when she retrieved it from a storage box.

Dick Anderson escorted his mother into the church sanctuary and to the altar.

The Muskegon Chronicle says the fashion show featured 20 bridal gowns that dated from 1933 to 2006.

Obama Effectively Ruined America's Relationship With Israel

Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 5/23/2011 4:25:00 AM
A Jerusalem-based Messianic Jewish ministry dedicated to solidarity with Israel says President Barack Obama has effectively destroyed the special relationship between Israel and the United States with his demand that the Jewish nation return to its pre-1967 borders.

President Obama has been forced to concede that he has serious differences with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the question of a future state for the Palestinians. After Friday's lengthy meeting in the Oval Office, Netanyahu told Obama that Israel values the U.S. president's efforts to advance the peace process, but he made it clear that Israel cannot return to the 1967 borders, which he calls "indefensible."

"There's a traditional, special relationship between America and Israel that Obama is basically throwing out the window in a sense," laments David Parsons, spokesman for the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ). "Obama has declared the settlements are no longer legitimate and [that Israel has to] go back to the '67 line."

And Parsons believes some serious questions will be raised about Obama's leadership in places like Europe.

"They may...be an even more important player now," he suggests. "They'll probably jump on this line of the '67 borders, but even they are starting to have questions about President Obama in the foreign policy field [and] the fact that he's just not being coherent and clear in enunciating policies that are really in our interest."

But now that the Palestinian Authority has the support of Obama, the ICEJ spokesman predicts the Palestinians will dig in their heels on the border issue.

Zero Tolerance Policy Gone Crazy In One Maryland School

Bob Kellogg - OneNewsNow - 5/23/2011 4:00:00 AM
Two lacrosse players from a Maryland high school have been suspended, one who was charged with possession of a deadly weapon after authorities found a penknife he used to repair sports equipment.

On a rumor that alcohol was on the team bus, school officials searched the players' belongings and turned up a lighter in one boy's bag and a penknife in another, which were used for repairing equipment. But both were suspended, and the athlete with the penknife is being charged with juvenile possession of a deadly weapon. So John Whitehead of The Rutherford Institute is defending the two.

"Under Maryland law, neither the lighter nor the penknife are dangerous weapons, so why the arrests? Why throw these kids out of school [and suspend] them," Whitehead wonders. "It's just another case of zero tolerance gone crazy."

He points out that records of the arrests could follow the students throughout their lives, which could give them trouble with getting into the college of their choice.

"So we've sent a letter; we're demanding that [the school] clean the records up," the attorney explains. "We have a criminal lawyer working on the criminal charges." But if the school does not comply, he says, "We'll go to court."

So far, the Talbot County Board of Education has not responded to their requests.
