A council of rabbis in Israel says their nation's conflict with Turkey over a flotilla of "aid" ships headed for the blockaded Gaza Strip controlled by the terrorist Hamas organization just may be the beginning of the "Gog and Magog process where the world is against us, but which ends with the third and final redemption."
The announcement comes today from the Rabbinical Council of Judea and Samaria, whose statement was reported by Israel National News.
WND columnist Greg Laurie just months ago explained the biblical reference to Gog and Magog, in the book of Ezekiel, as a prophecy that a "large force," will attack Israel from the north.
"We don't know why or exactly when this will take place. But this much I know: There is a lot going on in our current headlines that leads me to believe it could happen at any time," he wrote then, at the end of 2009.
"What does this mean to us? A lot. When Magog and her allies attack Israel, God will intervene and decimate the armies of Magog and its allies. Because of this, the Bible tells us, the Jewish people will give glory to God. Today, many Israelis are atheists. Certainly you will find very few Jewish people who believe in Jesus as their Messiah, although there are some. But they do have a determination to return to their homeland. They realize that they can look to no other nation for their protection or security and have returned to Israel, thus fulfilling prophecy from Scripture. But when the Holy Spirit is poured out on Israel after God drives back the invading armies of Magog, the Bible predicts there will be a revival in which numerous Jewish people will come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah," Laurie explained.
According to the INN, the council stated, "the legitimacy of our people is not derived from the nations of the world and their poisonous traditions, rather from the Torah of Israel which teaches us that [Israel] 'is a people that shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.'"
The council, which was assembled by Rabbi Zalman Melamed of Beit El and is supported by religious Zionist rabbis in the regions of Samaria and Judea, included a blessing for soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces.
It also suggested an emergency government be developed to lead during a time of conflict.
INN explained it interprets the "Gog and Magog" reference as a "vision of a war where the world is united against Israel that will precede the final redemption of Israel and the world."
The explanation continues, "The prophecy's symbolism involves a prince called Gog of Magog, leader of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, who leads a coalition that includes Persia (Iran), Cush, Phut, Gomer, and Beit Togarmah against Israel."
According to Ezekiel 39, Israel is successful against the attackers:
And thou, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; and I will turn thee about and lead thee on, and will cause thee to come up from the uttermost parts of the north; and I will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel; and I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the peoples that are with thee; I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort and to the beasts of the field, to be devoured.
The INN report continued with quotes that God will have compassion on Israel, "and they shall dwell safely in their land, and none shall make them afraid."
Laurie explains that the existence of the nation of Israel, created on May 14, 1948, is a miracle in itself.
"Never has a nation been able to maintain its national identity 300 to 500 years after being from its homeland – until Israel," he wrote. "Today, one will look in vain for the descendants of the Hittite nation or the Babylonian nation, although they were major powers in the ancient world. In fact, were it not for the Bible, the Hittites never would have been remembered by history, having sunk deep into the sands of time. There was a time that scoffers ridiculed the Bible for even mentioning the Hittites, as it was thought they were a fictional people. But in the 19th century, archaeologists confirmed the accuracy of Scripture when they uncovered irrefutable evidence of the extensive Hittite empire," he said.
"You won't find any Hittites today – or Babylonians, for that matter. But not so with Israel. How did the nation survive when the mighty Hittites, Babylonians and others vanished? Because God promised they would. In his book, 'What in the World Is Going On?' David Jeremiah writes, 'The return of the Jews to Israel in 1948 was an astounding event unprecedented in world history. Never had a decimated ancient people managed to retain their individual identity through almost 20 centuries and re-establish their nation in their original homeland. This event was specifically prophesied, and it happened exactly as foretold.'"
Laurie called it a "super-sign" in history.
"Events predicted in the Bible that have already transpired include Israel's scattering; Israel's regathering; Israel's regaining of Jerusalem; Israel's isolation; and Israel's being attacked. The Bible tells us that the final conflict of humanity will be centered on Jerusalem and the Middle East," he said.
"It is really amazing when you think about the fascination with Jerusalem and Israel, yet it was predicted long ago. God has promised a blessing for those who bless Israel, and a curse on those who don't," Laurie said.
"Could these events from our headlines of today explode and culminate in the scenario we read about in the Bible? Yes, they could. Will they? I don't know. We have to be very careful in interpreting current events," Laurie said.
"But this I do know: Jesus Christ is coming back. It could happen at any time. It could happen this year or this month or this week. It could happen today," said Laurie, the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif., which is one of the largest churches in America.
Israel's conflict with a Turkish fleet sailing for the blockaded Gaza has turned largely around the world on reports of the "massacre" by Israelis against the "peace" activists aboard the flotilla, even though video of the event reveals otherwise.

We here at the Eternal Flame News have been following this story since it first happened and we have found and seen video and audio footage that proves that Ham mas had guns, missiles and other forms of weapons hidden on the ship. They were discovered after the ship was taken over and was being unloaded by the Israeli Soldiers .
But you won't hear the mainstream media sharing that bit of information, Oh no they are out to make Israel look as bad as possible. When in actuality this whole thing was a set up to make the entire world turn against Israel.
So when we saw this article from World Net Daily we feel they have hit the nail on the head and we believe that this is the beginning of the war of Gog and Magog or as we call it The March On Israel.
So many prophecies are being fulfilled from Ezekiel, Daniel, Matthew, Revelation and on and on we could go. How one could say we are NOT living in the end of times they must be living under a rock.
We must pray for the nation of Israel and for all of the countries that are against them. For we know what happens when the world turns against Israel and descends on it to attack.
Praying is really all it seems we can do, but that is more powerful than all guns, bombs and weapons the enemy may have. For when we call upon the name of Jesus Christ and stand on the word of God that is more powerful than any weapon that the enemy may throw our way.
For it even says in the Scriptures "no weapon formed against them can prosper!"
Elderly Woman Beaten To Death Inside of Church

WYNNE, AR (WMC-TV) - The pastor of a Cross County, Arkansas church found an 80-year-old member of his congregation beaten to death inside the sanctuary Sunday.
Lillian Wilson was beaten to death inside the church, which was wrapped in crime scene tape Sunday night. Wilson was at the church helping with storm relief.
"Went over my home where I was born and raised and found it completely demolished," Wilson said in an interview after a tornado tore apart her parent's home in May.
Dixon Platt, Wilson's pastor, found her body under the pew when he walked into the church Sunday afternoon.
Platt had gone to Central United Methodist Church to collect disaster care buckets she had brought over. He noticed Wilson's car was not at the church.
Investigators said they believe the killers drove off in Wilson's car.
Linda Peeler remembered Wilson as a kind woman.
"Anything that helped other people, she was always there," Peeler said.
Wilson was a retired registered nurse, but even in retirement she continued to help people.
F2 Tornado Rips Through NorthWest Ohio

(CNN) -- Seven people were killed in Ohio as severe thunderstorms and tornadoes raked the Midwest on Saturday and early Sunday, authorities said.
The deaths came in Wood County when a tornado touched down there overnight, state Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Kelli Blackwell told CNN. Wood County is about 30 miles south of Toledo.
A 5-year-old child was among the deaths in Millbury, Ohio, according to Wood County dispatchers, who received the information from Lake Township Police Chief Mark Hummer. Four other victims ranged in age from 20 to 56, dispatchers said, and details on the remaining two were not immediately available.
A man was also found dead in the street in Millbury, and two adults died in a van in Lake Township, about five miles from Millbury, Blackwell said.
In Michigan, 11 people were injured when a storm struck Monroe County, and damage to the exterior wall of the Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant prompted an automatic shutdown, said Dan Smith, spokesman for the county's emergency management division. The plant will remain closed until crews have assessed the damage, he said.
Ten people were taken to hospitals by ambulance, and one was flown, after the storm struck about 3 a.m. Sunday, Smith said. Field crews were assessing the number of homes and businesses damaged in Dundee Village and Dundee Township, he said.
Up to 500 people staying at a water park resort were evacuated safely to a middle school, Smith said.
Several other communities in Illinois were hard-hit by severe weather. The town of Streator looks "like a war zone," Mayor Jimmie Lansford said. A total of 50 people were triaged, and 17 were transferred to hospitals and later released, he said.
The National Weather Service confirmed Sunday the tornado was an F2, with winds between 113 and 157 mph. Officials report about 30 homes damaged, including three destroyed on the south side of Streator.
"It cut a path from the west side of town all the way through to the east side of town," Lansford said.
Oil Spill Disaster Will Take Years To Clean Up

(CNN) -- It will take years to completely clean up the damage from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster, Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the federal government's response manager for the oil disaster, said Monday.
"Dealing with the oil spill on the surface is going to go on for a couple of months. After that it'll be taken care of," Allen said in response to a reporter's question at a White House briefing. "I agree with you, long-term issues of restoring the environment and the habitats and stuff will be years."
The total amount of crude being collected from the ruptured undersea well responsible for the disaster increased Sunday to roughly 466,000 gallons -- or 11,100 barrels -- according to estimates from BP and Allen.
On Saturday, BP indicated it had increased the amount of crude being funneled to the surface to roughly 441,000 gallons. The oil is being funneled from a containment cap installed on the well to a drilling ship on the ocean surface.
Federal authorities estimate that 798,000 gallons of crude have been gushing into the sea every day.
Since the containment cap was installed on Friday, the total number of gallons of oil being captured on a daily basis has nearly doubled, Allen said Monday.
BP "anticipates moving another craft" to the well site shortly in order to raise the capacity of oil that could be captured on a daily basis to roughly 840,000 gallons, or 20,000 barrels, he said.
"In the long run, [BP] is also looking at bringing larger production vessels in, create a more permanent connection that can be disconnected easily in case we have a hurricane or bad weather later on in the hurricane season," Allen noted. "And we'll continue to optimize the production out of the well to contain it."
iReport: Track the oil disaster
President Obama, who was briefed by Allen on Monday, later warned that "even if we are successful in containing some or much" of the oil, the problem of the leak will not be solved until a relief well is completed -- a process that will take "several months."
The president also expressed concern for the health of workers now trying to clean up the spill. Scientists are "not seeing huge elevations of toxins in the air or on the water" near shore, he said. "But that may not be the case out where people are actually doing the work."
The EPA will continue to constantly monitor air and water quality, as well as check toxin levels in seafood from the Gulf, he said. "This is a resilient ecosystem" and there are "resilient people" in the Gulf, he asserted. "They're going to bounce back."
Farther south, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce opened shop on the bayou Monday morning, holding a hearing in Chalmette, Louisiana. The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations was slated to hold a field hearing on "Local Impact of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill" near ground zero for the growing disaster.
Also Monday, Carol Browner, the president's assistant for energy and climate change, hosted a video chat to answer questions from the public about the oil disaster.
The expanding government response comes as the effects of the gusher are spreading along the Gulf Coast. Dead wildlife has now been reported in the region. Allen said Monday that roughly 120 linear miles of coastline in the Gulf have now been affected by the spill.
Allen warned Sunday that while BP has made progress in its cleanup efforts, it remains too early to call the effort a success.
"We're making the right progress. [But] I don't think anyone should be pleased as long as there's oil in the water," Allen said on CNN's "State of the Union."
The oil "is an insidious enemy," Allen said. "It's attacking all of our shores, it's holding the Gulf hostage, basically."
In an appearance on ABC's "This Week," Allen described the current state of the spill as a series of pools, ranging from 20-100 yards to several miles in length.
"The spill has disaggregated over a 200-mile radius around the wellbore. It's not a monolithic spill. It is literally hundreds and thousands of smaller spills," he said.
Even as the administration has tried to distance itself from BP in recent days -- with the Justice Department launching both criminal and civil investigations into the spill -- it has not been enough to temper the frustration seething among residents along the coastline.
Florida Sen. George LeMieux, a Republican, demanded that BP donate $1 billion for a cleanup fund for the five Gulf states and said that Obama "needs to push them to do that."
"I want to see this president more engaged here on the ground, working through problems," LeMieux said.
On "State of the Union," Florida Gov. Charlie Crist said his state was "as ready as we can be," as the currents moved the oil eastward.
In addition to a declaration of a state of disaster, Florida has about 250,000 feet of boom spread around the panhandle and has another 250,000 feet available, Crist said.
The federal government on Monday accepted Canada's offer of 3,000 meters -- or more than 9,800 feet -- of ocean boom to help combat the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, a State Department spokesman said.
Florida is also pushing BP to respond to claims made by business owners who are losing business and facing crisis because of the spill.

On our JMC LIVE show June 1, 2010 we discussed the Oil Spill and how in the book of Revelation 16:3 it Talks about that the Sea will become like the blood of a dead man and all the living things in the sea will die. And how John the author of Revelation could have been describing an oil spill of biblical proportion.
Revelation 8:8 also talks about the sea turning into blood but we did not discuss this verse but it also seems to be describing a similar event as in Revelation 16:3
