Youth Group Launches 'I Vote Pro-Life First' Campus Tour

MANASSAS, Va., Sept. 13, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Students for Life of America, the nation's largest pro-life youth organization, announced today a nationwide effort to educate 300,000 voters and recruit 1,200 Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) youth volunteers through its I Vote Pro-Life First Initiative this fall.

The initiative asks every American, particularly young adults, to sign a pledge stating that a candidate's stance on the life issue will be the most important issue that a person looks at when deciding which candidates to vote for, from local school board to President of the United States.

"If a candidate does not support the basic right to life, we believe they cannot be trusted to handle any other issue, fiscal or social, with honor and dignity," said Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life of America. "We plan to educate voters, recruit volunteers, and urge voters to vote for the candidates that respect life in all its stages."

On September 17th, SFLA will launch its I Vote Pro-Life First Campus Tour, which will visit several universities (below) in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and, Pennsylvania. Former nurse, pro-life activist and blogger, Jill Stanek will headline the tour.

The Campus Tour was created following results from SFLA's June national poll of 805 18-24 year olds, which showed that college-aged students are expecting to vote in large numbers and are split on the issue of legalized abortion. Students for Life of America will use its national campus program to recruit over 1,200 GOTV youth volunteers this October to knock on or call 300,000 voter households before Election Day.

The I Vote Pro-Life First initiative is a coalition effort with other national pro-life organizations such as RNC for Life, Live Action, The Justice Foundation, Pro-Life Nation, Rock for Life, I Am Whole Life, The Frederick Douglass Foundation,,,, Pro-Life Action League, California Civil Rights Foundation, and Created Equal. Senator Rick Santorum joined representatives from the coalition on a webcast last week to educate pro-lifers of the new initiative.

Pro-Lifers Across Maryland and Washington DC Join Together This Fall to End Abortion

SEVERN, Md., Sept. 13, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Eight area 40 Days for Life campaigns will begin in Maryland and Washington DC on September 26th, starting 40 days of Prayer and Fasting, Peaceful and Prayerful Vigil at abortion facilities, and Community Outreach.

But before the 26th, these campaigns will all gather together for a united, statewide Kickoff on September 22nd at 10am. There will be 2 physical locations, in Germantown and in Severn, so everyone has access to a local gathering place.

The event will feature a live webcast between sites and speakers at each location, including 40 Days for Life National Director and Co-founder David Bereit, rising Christian Music Artist Caitlin Jane, Bishop Rozanski from the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Father Leo Patalinghug from Savoring Our Faith, along with special video messages from Gary Bauer of American Values and Matt Maher (Christian Music Artist).

The Maryland Coalition for Life and the local leaders of these campaigns joined together to plan this event. "Bringing people together energizes everyone involved, breeds excitement, and increases participation," said Michael Martelli, Executive Director of the Maryland Coalition for Life. "Instead of individual kickoff events, we got together to hold one giant rally for the entire state. Energy and enthusiasm grows exponentially as more people come together, so we are expecting a whole new level of excitement!"

With the closure of at least 3 abortion facilities in the past two years, new Pregnancy and Resource Centers popping up across the region, abortionists admitting a steady decline in patients, increased church and individual participation, and brand new Abortion Clinic Regulations this July, Maryland is turning away from its long-held reputation as one of the most pro-abortion states in the country. "The culture across America is becoming more Pro-Life by the day, and nowhere is that more evident than in Maryland," said Martelli. "We refuse to allow Maryland to remain the late-term abortion capital of the world, and we will work to change that, one heart and mind at a time."

Campaigns participating in this event include Annapolis, Baltimore, College Park, Easton, Frederick, Germantown, Silver Spring, and Washington DC. For more about this event, visit For more about 40 Days for Life, visit

The Maryland Coalition for Life is a community-based, grassroots, pro-life network dedicated to bringing the many Maryland pro-life organizations, churches, elected officials, and citizens together peacefully and prayerfully to end abortion in Maryland - forever.

Christians in Egypt, Libya, Other Countries Could Face Increased Persecution

SANTA ANA, Calif., Sept. 12, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Tuesday attacks on U.S. embassies in Libya and Egypt could have severe consequences for already marginalized Christians in the Middle East and northern Africa.

The violence, including the death of four American embassy staff members in Benghazi, Libya, was allegedly sparked by a film produced in the U.S. that insulted the Prophet Mohammad.

"It illustrates how hot the fuel is that one spark ignites it so suddenly," says Open Doors spokesman Michael Wood. "At some point we heard that people were protesting because of a film not even knowing what movie this was all about. And as was the case with the publishing of the Danish cartoon several years ago, the movie has been on the Internet several months.

"But it is the unpredictable momentum that suddenly creates a wave of protests and anger. Many of the Muslim fanatics link the U.S. with Christianity. So that puts believers in these hot spots such as Libya and Egypt directly in the line of fire."

Angry protests over the film have already spread in the Middle East with new demonstrations reported late today in Tunisia, Morocco and Sudan. Egypt's powerful Muslim Brotherhood on Wednesday called for nationwide protests on Friday.

Wood adds that Christians in Egypt, who compose 10 percent of the population, and the small community of believers in Libya need our prayers now more than ever before. "Pray that the violence over this film does not spread to other countries...that is the No. 1 prayer request," he says.

National Day of Repentance: Sept 25 & 26

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif., Sept. 12, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Our problems individually and as a nation involve politics and government, but are at the root deeply spiritual. We need God's spiritual solutions to what are spiritual problems. A National Day of Repentance has been formed to begin to address this spiritual need.

To trigger God's healing in our lives and in our nation at this perilous time the Holy Spirit is today quickening the souls of many believers in Christ to take time to be with the Lord, to pray, to humble ourselves, to repent, individually and for our nation. The positive value of repentance, to take a higher Godly path, to build intimacy and joy with the Lord, to watch for His miracles, is being rediscovered. Many are choosing to focus on one key day to do this, timed to coincide and to give honor to the roots of our Christian faith and the most sacred day on the calendar of Israel, the Day of Atonement. [Leviticus 16:29-31].

At the grassroots, in communities across the country, now in 35 States and 4 other nations, a nonprofit, nondenominational group focusing on the value and power of repentance in a nation's destiny has formed. The National Day of Repentance is set for sundown September 25-sundown September 26, 2012. A website provides support:

Individual fasting, prayer, taking the day off work to show the God we serve instead of mammon, time alone with God, praying silently at a place of government, prayer-walking your neighborhood, participation in a church or ministry service -- time to do a spiritual inventory with our Creator -- to repent and to observe His forgiveness -- these will mark all or a portion of the 25 hours beginning twenty minutes before sundown in each community on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 and concluding on Yom Kippur, Wednesday, September 26, forty minutes after sunset. Seek the Holy Spirit as to an outline of a program for your group or church during all or a portion of this key day. Join with other churches in your community if possible.

Our Founding Fathers understood the power of repentance and declared Days of "Fasting, Prayer and Humiliation" as a key spiritual tool to establish and preserve this nation. When the Revolutionary War looked most bleak, John Adams, asked if he believed we could nonetheless defeat Great Britain, said: "Yes, if we fear God and repent of our sins."
National days of prayer, fasting and repentance were then held; Divine Providence then established and blessed this nation.

This is a spiritual hour of decision, unique in our lifetime. Are we a nation blessed under the living God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Yeshua/Jesus or not? It is a holy day for those of us in the body of Christ to choose which God we will serve, Deuteronomy 30:16. It is a day to mobilize His body to repent and choose Him. Beginning at sundown, September 25, thousands will turn to prayer and repentance on a day set aside to pray to move His Heart for this nation He helped birth as a bastion of His Liberty, a light to all nations.

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14.

Former Abortionists Join the Pro-Life Movement

Pro-Life Action League Hosts CONVERTED Conference
CHICAGO, Sept. 12, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- A new Gallup poll says, "Americans now tilt 'pro-life' by a nine-point margin." But it's not just the general public that is turning against abortion. Some within the abortion industry itself have now come around to the pro-life side. On September 22, the Pro-Life Action League will present the testimonies of seven women and men who worked in the abortion business at a conference entitled, "CONVERTED: From Abortion Provider to Pro-Life Activist."

WHAT: "Converted: From Abortion Provider to Pro-Life Activist"

WHEN: Saturday, September 22, 9am to 5pm Central Time

WHERE: Crowne Plaza O'Hare, 5440 N. River Road in Rosemont, Illinois

This conference at the Crowne Plaza O'Hare in Rosemont, Illinois will bring together doctors, nurses, and counselors -- including former employees of Planned Parenthood -- to tell their pro-life conversion stories. In different ways, the conference presenters came to reject the "pro-choice" view, and are now speaking out about what it's really like inside the abortion business and why they now find abortion to be abhorrent.

Abby Johnson, whose story is told in her book, UnPlanned, had a dramatic change of heart after she assisted with an ultrasound-guided abortion as the manager of a Planned Parenthood facility in Texas. She is now reaching out to abortion clinic workers to encourage them to leave the industry. Sue Thayer, also a former Planned Parenthood manager, had a change of heart with the advent of "telemed" abortions, in which a doctor remotely dispenses abortion drugs without ever seeing patients in person.

One-time abortion counselors Catherine Adair and Linda Couri both made 180-degree turnarounds from promotion of abortion to pro-life advocacy -- Adair after witnessing the grisly results of a second trimester abortion.

Ruth Yorston quit her job at Women's Health Organization abortion clinic to head up a regional Right to Life group once she realized that the "products of conception" were really babies that both science and faith recognize as living human beings.

Former abortionist Dr. John Bruchalski and in-vitro fertilization specialist Dr. Anthony Caruso have both renounced the destruction of human life and now devote their professional careers to nurturing and defending life in the womb.

These seven speakers, along with emcee Dr. Anthony Levatino, himself a converted abortion provider, make up the slate for the all-day conference. Levatino was a speaker at the first such forum in 1987, titled "Meet the Abortion Providers."

"People need to hear these stories," said Ann Scheidler, vice president of the Pro-Life Action League. "The former abortion providers converted to the pro-life side not for purely intellectual reasons, but because they beheld with their own eyes the horrors the abortion industry is executing in the name of 'choice'."

About the Pro-Life Action League
The Pro-Life Action League was founded by Joe Scheidler in 1980 with the aim of saving babies from abortion through direct action. Not content to await a political or judicial solution to abortion, the League seeks to stop the killing of unborn children right now through all available peaceful means, including public protest, sidewalk counseling, education, youth outreach, and national leadership.

New School Year Challenges Students to Make Spirituality Part of College Life

Grand Canyon University offers tips for students seeking well-rounded college experience
PHOENIX, Sept. 10, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- The key to a well-rounded college experience is balancing academic pursuits with individual and spiritual growth, according to Grand Canyon University, Arizona's premier private Christian university. As students look for ways to define and express their spiritual beliefs on campus, GCU offers guidance to help them pursue a greater purpose and reach their full potential.
College students are faced with challenges and countless firsts, including new courses, new surroundings and new freedoms. From attending class and completing assignments to learning to live with new roommates, students find that a campus can be an overwhelming place.
"It's vital for students step away from the spiritual sidelines and get involved with community activities on and off campus," said Tim Griffin, dean of students and campus pastor at Grand Canyon University. "After all, college is about more than finding a career path; it's a time for self-examination as students begin to create their own identity by exploring, experimenting and making decisions along the way. With a variety of life experiences, these young adults are unsure how to nurture their spiritual life on campus."
To make the most of campus life, students should search out opportunities for self-expression. At GCU, students are invited to attend regular university-wide chapel services, as well as a weekly evening service called The Gathering, which is planned by students, for students. Most college campuses also have active youth organizations that meet regularly to bring together like-minded individuals and provide a positive influence on students' spiritual journeys. Other opportunities might include guest lecturers or retreats that support spiritual growth.
Griffin notes that for a more hands-on approach, there are many opportunities to serve others - both on and off campus - by connecting with counselors, student leaders and faculty to identify effective ways to serve the community. Whether it's volunteering at a soup kitchen, mentoring underprivileged children or starting a team for a local fundraising event, college life allows students flexibility and unique opportunities to give back where the greatest needs exist.
Lastly, worshipping individually through meditation and prayer is just as important as seeking out worship in a group setting through services, prayer session or bible studies. Individual reflection helps students re-center their spiritual selves, find clarity and gather strength to face challenges.
As a Christian University, Grand Canyon helps students in their academic and spiritual journeys by offering a variety of experiences that serve to strengthen their faith. These opportunities allow students to explore who Jesus is, grow in a relationship with Him, and ultimately become a co-laborer with Christ.
Grand Canyon University was founded in 1949 and is Arizona's premier private Christian university. GCU is regionally accredited and emphasizes individual attention for both traditional undergraduate students and the working professional in seven colleges: the Ken Blanchard College of Business, the College of Education, the College of Nursing, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Theology, the College of Fine Arts and Production, and the College of Doctoral Studies. GCU offers traditional programs on its growing campus, as well as online bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs. The University's curriculum fuses academic and clinical rigor with Christian values to prepare its students to be skilled, caring professionals.

Former Captive Missionary Spearheads Radio Ministry to Peruvian Jungles

New Partner Station Broadcasting in 7 Languages
COLORADO SPRINGS, Sept. 10, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Ray Rising, veteran Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) missionary, is not easily deterred from his mission. After being kidnapped in 1994 and held hostage by Colombian guerrillas for 810 days, he continues to share the good news through a new partner radio station broadcasting to more than 200,000 indigenous people in Peru's dense northern jungles.
Photo: Ray Rising, missionary once held captive for 810 days, is now broadcasting the gospel at a new partner radio station to more than 200,000 indigenous people in Peru's dense northern jungles. The new station, "Radio Logos," is a joint venture between SIL and HCJB Global, an evangelical missionary organization that collaborates with national partners to initiate broadcast ministries, often where no missionary can enter. The new station is in Chazuta, Peru, positioned to reach the northern third of Peru and parts of neighboring Ecuador and Brazil.
Rising, who escaped his captivity unharmed after being held for more than two years, was later able to meet with some of his captors in prison and to share a clear gospel message with them. Today he is an integral part of new broadcasts on a 1,000-watt regional shortwave transmitter (TB1000) built and designed by engineers at the HCJB Global Technology Center in Elkhart, Ind.
"We are now able to broadcast the gospel message from 4 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily. Praise the Lord for this miracle!" said Rising, who knows firsthand about life-altering divine interventions.
"Radio Logos" is Rising's third cooperative venture with HCJB Global. In the first two, he helped establish stations in Bolivia that cover South America's central region.
The Peruvian station is currently broadcasting in seven languages: Achuar, Bora, Junicui, Ticuna, Pastaza Quechua, San Martín Quechua and Spanish.
"There are at least 17 language groups in our listening area," said Jairo Sangama, pastor and local radio partner. "We hope to add more languages to our broadcasts soon to communicate the Scriptures to all of these groups."
People throughout these remote areas are receiving Galcom solar-powered radios that are fixed-tuned to the station. Already reports have come from communities that the signal is clear and broadcasts are being received.
The radio station is the culmination of two years of planning and prayer by 120 local church members. Prior to the launch, a five-day radio program production workshop was held for 29 people representing seven Amazonian tribes and multiple language groups. "Our goal is to develop a network of like-minded Christian broadcasters to join this effort," said Allen Graham, HCJB Global missionary and director of the radio workshop.
Many new listeners have responded that they want to participate in the outreach. A second workshop will be held in December to train more local Christians to produce programs in their own languages to be broadcast from the station.
The station comprises recording studios, transmitting equipment and a hostel for visitors producing radio programs. Broadcasts include public service announcements, Bible readings, music and special programming for women and children.
A single evangelical church was planted 50 years ago in Chazuta, Peru, a town of about 10,000 some 500 miles deep in the jungle. Today there are 19 church associations with more than 500 churches in the Peruvian Amazon basin.
"One station at a time, one broadcast at a time, we are reaching people for Christ," said Rising. "With God's miracles at work, this won't be the last one."
For 80 years the passion of HCJB Global ( has been to make disciples of Christ. Using mass media, healthcare and education, HCJB Global works with partners in more than 100 countries, airing the gospel in more than 120 languages and dialects. Thousands of healthcare patients are meeting Jesus. Local believers are being trained as missionaries, pastors, broadcasters and healthcare providers.

RFID News Roundup for the Week of Sept 13th

Sept. 13, 2012—The following are news announcements made during the past week.

India's State of Maharashtra Adopts Confidex RFID Technology for Border Checkpoints
Confidex, a supplier of specialty RFID tags, has announced that its RFID Windshield labels are being employed in a fully automatic border checkpoint control system in the Indian state of Maharashtra. According to Confidex, the solution is the first of its kind in the country, and represents the kickoff for modernizing all border checkpoints throughout India, as mandated by the government. In Maharashtra, Confidex reports, the commercial capital state of India, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corp. (MSRDC) is currently in the process of modernizing the state's border checkpoints, which had been using manual systems that often resulted in high processing times and traffic jams at those borders. The new border-control system utilizes automatic vehicle identification (AVI) ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID technology designed to enable reliable, large-scale vehicle and traffic management, as well as enhanced traffic flow. Intermec's IF2 Network readers are being used in the system's implementation. The Confidex Windshield Label—which is compliant with the EPC Gen 2 ISO 18000-6C standard and is being resold by Confidex's partner, Rajkamal Barscan System—is issued and affixed to each vehicle's windshield, and automatically reads when the vehicle approaches the checkpoint. Several million cars will be RFID-enabled within the first few years, says Hanna Kosunen, Confidex's marketing director for object ID, though she is unable to provide specific numbers. The vehicle's tax, insurance, permit, pollution and driver information is instantly retrieved from the central database, according to Confidex, allowing border officers to make quick decisions regarding border control. Border checkpoint IT system infrastructure is provided by HCL Infosystems Ltd., which is serving as the project's systems integrator. The complete border check station infrastructure is contracted by Maharashtra Border Check Post Network Ltd. (MBCPNL), a sister company of Sadbhav Engineering Ltd., one of India's major infrastructure and construction firms. According to MBCPNL's Web site, the project's goal is to "construct, operate, maintain and transfer twenty-two modernized and computerized integrated Border Check Posts." Confidex and Impinj are hosting a 30-minute webinar about AVI RFID technology on Oct. 3, 2012; those interested can register here.

IDTronic Intros Bluebox Basic UHF RFID Reader Supporting Four External Antennas
IDTronic, an RFID hardware provider based in Germany, has announced a new version of its Bluebox Basic Controller that comes with four external TNC antenna ports. The new ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID reader supports the ISO 18000-6C and EPC Gen 2 standards, and is now available as an addition to IDTronic's existing line of UHF Bluebox readers. This includes a read-write device and an integrated antenna that plugs into a computer's USB port, the Basic Controller with a single antenna port. With its ruggedized housing, the latest UHF four-antenna Bluebox Basic Controller offers a reading distance up to 10 meters (33 feet) and has adjustable output power of up to +32 dBm, IDTronic reports, making it suitable for professional long-range RFID applications. The device is available with an RS232/RS485 or Ethernet interface; supports several standard read nodes, such as scan mode and notification mode; and has integrated I/O ports and three LEDs for status information. Hong Kong RFID Announces RFID-enabled System for Electronic Fuel Delivery Management
Hong Kong RFID Ltd., an RFID hardware manufacturer, distributor and consultancy firm in Hong Kong and the South China Region, has announced its electronic fuel delivery system (EFDS). The EFDS solution leverages 2.4 GHz active RFID tags, and is designed to replace existing systems employing bar-coded labels for the identification of vehicles receiving fuel. According to Hong Kong RFID, the bar-coding can be easily damaged, and the process of locating and reading the bar code can be time-consuming. The EFDS is designed to track the delivery of fuel to cranes and other large vehicles in the field. EFDS active RFID tags are installed on vehicles, so that fuel-truck operators can identify target vehicles using Hong Kong RFID's Empress Mobile Handheld Reader. An operator chooses a specific vehicle to receive fuel via the handheld device, causing an LED on that vehicle's RFID tag to light up for the purpose of identification, then presses a "start" button on the reader for fuel delivery. An ES-Box installed within the fuel truck will then record the starting and stopping time, along with the amount of fuel injection. In addition, each delivery's operational time is recorded and stored in the Operation Timer install in the fuel-delivery vehicle. All data in the ES-Box and Operation Timer can be automatically downloaded to the Mobile Handheld Reader, which can then be connected to a PC to generate an efficiency report for further analysis. By analyzing fuel-efficiency data, companies can better monitor and understand the health of a vehicle or machine, such as whether it requires motor oil or lubricant, as indicated by poor efficiency operation. Hong Kong RFID is marketing the EFDS primarily within the Asia Pacific region, but intends to eventually extend that reach to the remainder of the world. According to Hong Kong RFID, both Shell and Chevron are utilizing the EFDS solution in Hong Kong, with plans to introduce the system to their headquarters and bring it to their North American and European operations.

Balluff Announces New Version of Its RFID System
Balluff Inc., the North American subsidiary of Germany's Balluff and a manufacturer of a variety of sensors, has announced a new version of its RFID system. The Balluff BIS V solution, which supports the ISO 14443 and ISO 15693 standards, is built on a new generation of RFID processors that, according to the company, maximize flexibility by providing a single device for both low-frequency (LF) 125 kHz and high-frequency (HF) 13.56 MHz read-write heads with an IO-Link master port. Each of the four heads can be set up to interrogate either 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz passive RFID tags. Balluff sells a very wide range of passive RFID tags for both of these frequencies, to support both industrial and logistics applications. These include read-only tags for mounting directly to metal, tags that can withstand high temperatures of up to 230 degrees Celsius (446 degrees Fahrenheit) and others with longer read distances of up to 280 millimeters (11 inches). The new system combines up to four-head capability on both LF and HF frequencies, with local analog, valve manifold or I/O access/control, and delivers a solution that can be applied to a variety of RFID applications. The solution saves time and money, Balluff reports, by employing a single processor platform across an application installation base. Typical applications include the tracking and tracing of materials or parts for assembly-line work in progress (WIP), the company adds, as well as inter-logistics in automotive, industrial equipment, electronics, medical and packaging applications. The BIS V processor provides a functional display and LEDs designed to make setup easier, and includes a USB service interface for connectivity to PCs. In addition, the processor offers four asynchronous 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz read-write antenna channels, an LCD display with control buttons for setting and displaying the network address and data carrier/tags' unique IDs, an industrial IP 65-rated metal housing (meaning that testing has confirmed that housing to be dustproof and waterproof), a power plug option for saving parameters on the device, and flexible mounting options.

Democrats and Planned Parenthood Compare Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan to STD's at Democratic National Convention

WASHINGTON, Sept. 14, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Planned Parenthood was passing out condoms inside a pink cover which had this message on the front; "Protect Yourself from Romney & Ryan."

The condoms were being passed out to Democrat delegates, inside the security perimeter at the DNC, so Planned Parenthood had permission from Party and Convention officials.

Faith and pro-life leaders are appalled that DNC officials would compare Governor Romney to an STD and reduce President Obama's Campaign to "gutter politics."

Leaders also saddened that the Obama Administration and Planned Parenthood would cheapen and diminish the fight against STD's with such a shameful and crass political stunt.

Two questions must be asked of President Obama. "Are these condoms what he meant by hope and change?" And, "Who paid for these condoms?"

Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states,

"It has hard to believe President Obama, Planned Parenthood and the DNC would resort to such gutter politics in comparing Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan to STD's at the Convention.

"It is tragic that the President and his party will reduce this Presidential campaign to such crass and extremist levels. This is why so many Americans are turned off by the political process.

"It is also tragic that the Democrat Party which helped fight for civil rights and reached out to the poor and needy across our nation would now stoop to the level of passing out condoms comparing a Presidential Candidate and his running mate to STD's. I wonder how Harry Truman or Thomas Jefferson would feel about this?

"Let me be clear on this, shame on you President Obama and the DNC. With all the pressing social issues facing our nation, can you and your party really be taken seriously after a stunt like this?"
Brandi Swindell, Founder and President of Stanton Healthcare, adds,
"As a woman, human rights activist and founder of a life-affirming medical clinic, it is shocking to see Planned Parenthood reduce and diminish the fight against STD's in such a cheap and crass way. It clearly shows that they are more interested in creating a circus like atmosphere than dealing in a serious way with pressing social issues.

"It also shows that the President and his party are attached at the hip with Planned Parenthood and their radical anti-woman agenda. President Obama now is time for real solutions and not cheap political tricks. Is this really the best you have to offer our nation?"

Prison Warden Commends CBI South Africa Students

PRETORIA, South Africa, Sept. 10, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Crossroad Bible Institute is celebrating the second graduation ceremony hosted by its satellite campus in South Africa. The prison warden and four other high-ranking officials attended the ceremony of 32 graduates at Baviaanspoort
Campus Director Alwyn Bezuidenhout remarked, "The head warden personally thanked CBI for making a difference in the lives of inmates. He asked to convey the gratitude of Correctional Services to the CBI head office in the United States." Because of prison officials' support, the program has expanded from one to three facilities over the last year.
Photo: CBI Director, Student Bruce S. (holding CBI certificate), Prison Warden "The discipleship courses provided by CBI powerfully impact inmates' lives," said CBI President Dr. H. David Schuringa. "And we are thrilled these prison officials recognize that."
CBI South Africa has been reaching inmates in South African prisons since 2011 and now boasts 120 active registered students in Pretoria. Their studies are corrected by volunteers from four different denominations so far, including the Reformed Churches of South Africa, the Free Reformed Churches, the Afrikaans Protestant Church and Reformed Baptists.
Bezuidenhout directs the program, oversees volunteers and spearheads expansion efforts. Furthermore, because of the country's unreliable mail system, he personally visits prisons to deliver lessons by hand. While there, he presents a devotional message, answers questions and offers encouragement. Bezuidenhout is joyful about the program's success: "Looking back over this year, we can indeed cry out with the psalmist, 'The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy!'"
"We are seeing CBI South Africa gain an increasing presence and impact on the prison system in that country," CBI International Programs Coordinator Cynthia Williams explained. She also commended the support of South African churches and the prison officials' respect for the program.
CBI is a nonprofit prison ministry with over 42,000 students studying through satellite campuses on six continents. The program is provided at no cost to prisoners and their families.

New: A Christian Woman's Guide to Breaking Free from Pornography

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Sept. 7, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Shelley Hitz and S'ambrosia Curtis have co-authored a book to help women overcome their addiction to pornography. The book released in late August by Colorado Springs based Body and Soul Publishing has already become an Amazon bestseller.

"A Christian Woman's Guide to Breaking Free from Pornography" is a new book written by two women who have been set free from the trap of pornography and now desire to help others. Shelley Hitz and S'ambrosia Curtis both know firsthand the battle that women go through to overcome a pornography addiction and have poured their hearts into this book in the hopes of helping other women find freedom as well.

Shelley first came up with the idea for writing this resource after multiple women (young and old) confided in her at her various speaking engagements across the nation about their secret struggle with pornography. Shelley has authored multiple books for teen girls and women, and when speaking about this particular book she said, "I have felt an intense spiritual battle, which leads me to believe that God is going to use it powerfully. Within the book, I share honestly my own struggle with pornography and the freedom Christ has given me."

The book includes relevant statistics demonstrating the influence of pornography in modern media, encouraging testimonies from women who have overcome their addiction by the unfailing grace and power of Christ, and various strategies for resisting temptation in order to break free from pornography. After months in the making, the official book launch is scheduled for September 26th and 27th, 2012. During this two day book launch, the Kindle version of the book will be available as a free download.

90 Percent of Young Women Say the Poor Economy Impacts Daily Life and 84 Percent Say Key Life Decisions in Jeopardy as 12.6 Percent are Unemployed

Only 37 percent of Millennial women say today's leaders represent their interests, while 78 percent plan to vote in the presidential election
WASHINGTON, Sept. 5, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Generation Opportunity, the largest non-profit, non-partisan organization in the United States engaging and mobilizing young Americans (18-29 years old) on the important economic issues facing the nation, released new polling data today on Millennial women as the 2012 presidential election nears. Since its launch in June of 2011, Generation Opportunity has amassed a following of over 4 million fans on Facebook and is actively organizing Millennials across the country through grassroots tactics, voter registration, and voter turnout efforts.
"These numbers tell the story of a very stark reality being played out in the daily lives and long-term plans of young women. Today's sad reality is one of limited economic opportunity and a lack of jobs, both of which are direct results of this president's failed policies and stubborn pursuit of a policy agenda that is clearly rolling back the progress that our mothers and grandmothers worked hard to achieve. After generations of women fought for equality and access to opportunities not long ago reserved solely for men, it should come as no surprise that young women simply want the opportunity to create a future for themselves, to contribute to their communities, and to ultimately make the country a better place for generations to come," said Amber S. Roseboom, Executive Vice President of Generation Opportunity and a former Deputy Chief of Staff of the United States Office of Personnel Management.
"The policies of this president and his administration are making these opportunities fewer and fewer and are denying an entire generation opportunities to be independent and to contribute to and plan for a better future. Young women in particular, after inheriting a legacy in which greater opportunity is not just a right, but an expectation, will not sit idly by and let it slip away. Very clearly, young women do not feel their views are represented in Washington, and they plan to make their voices heard in the upcoming presidential election."
For Generation Opportunity, the polling company, inc./WomanTrend conducted a nationwide online survey of 1,003 adults ages 18-29 between July 27 and July 31, 2012.
Randomly selected online opt-in panel participants were sent an invitation to the survey via email which included a secure link to the online questionnaire. Quotas were used to ensure the survey was representative of the larger 18-29 year old nationwide population with regard to race, region, and gender. The data were NOT weighted.
The overall sampling margin of error for the survey is ±3.1% at a 95% confidence interval, meaning that the data obtained would not differ more than 3.1 percentage points in 95 out of 100 similar samples obtained. Margins of error for subgroups are higher. Women comprised 49% of the total sample for this study.

    • 90% of 18-29 year old women changed some aspect of their day-to-day lives because of the current state of the economy (Accepted multiple responses) (Randomized):

      • 18% - skipped a wedding, family reunion, or other significant social event;
      • 2% - other, specified;
      • 8% - none of the above (accepted only this response);
      • 2% - do not know/cannot judge (accepted only this response).
    • 84% of Millennial women have delayed or might not do at least one major life event due to the current state of the economy (Accepted multiple responses) (Randomized):
      • 40% - buy my own place;
      • 35% - go back to school/getting more education or training;
      • 31% - pay off student loans or other debt;

    • 62% of young adult women believe the availability of more quality, full-time jobs upon graduation is more important than lower student loan interest rates.
    • 75% believe that the lack of job opportunities is shrinking the American middle class.
    • Only 37% believe that today’s political leaders reflect the interests of young Americans.
    • 78% of 18-29 year old women plan to vote in the election for President this year.
Last month, Generation Opportunity released the non-seasonally adjusted (NSA) unemployment data for Millennials for July 2012:
    • The youth unemployment rate for 18-29 year olds specifically for July 2012 is 12.7 percent (NSA).
    • The youth unemployment rate for 18-29 year old African-Americans for July 2012 is 22.3 percent (NSA); the youth unemployment rate for 18-29 year old Hispanics for July 2012 is 14.0 percent (NSA); and the youth unemployment rate for 18-29 year old women for July 2012 is 12.6 percent (NSA).
    • The declining labor participation rate has created an additional 1.715 million young adults that are not counted as "unemployed" by the U.S. Department of Labor because they are not in the labor force, meaning that those young people have given up looking for work due to the lack of jobs.
    • If the labor force participation rate were factored into the 18-29 youth unemployment calculation, the actual 18-29-unemployment rate would rise to 16.7 percent (NSA).

Generation Opportunity is a non-profit, non-partisan 501 (c)(4) organization that seeks to engage everyone from young adults, to early career professionals, college students, young mothers and fathers, construction workers, current service men and women, veterans, entrepreneurs, and all Americans who find themselves dissatisfied with the status quo and willing to create a better tomorrow.

Generation Opportunity operates on a strategy that combines advanced social media tactics with proven field tactics to reach Americans 18-29. The organization’s social media platforms - "Being American by GO," "The Constitution by GO," "Gas Prices Are Too Damn High," "Lower Taxes by GO," "Keep Texas Awesome," "Jersey Proud," and "We Like Small Government" on Facebook - have amassed a total fan base of more than 4 million.
