Ministry fair at Army base connects faith & military to help soldiers, families in crisis

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (BP) -- Heather Junkin was putting 9-month-old Adelynn to bed when the sound rang out, perhaps a Vodka bottle that had crashed to the floor.

The young military wife rushed to the hallway to see her husband Justin lying on the kitchen tile, blood pouring from every orifice of his face, the gun no longer in his clasp.

"I was trying to put our daughter to sleep and he committed suicide in the other room, leaving me with a 9-month old baby," said Junkin, one of nearly 200 ministry leaders, mental health professionals and volunteers at a Jan. 11 ministry fair at Fort Campbell, the sprawling Army base that is home to the 101st Airborne Division.

Volunteers from a Florida-based group have distributed Bibles to the lunchrooms of several high schools in the Sunshine State.

World Changers of Florida, a conservative organization, distributed the Bibles on Wednesday, with a focus on high schools in Orange County.

Greg Harper, vice president of Education for World Changers, wrote in a blog entry, "We have given out thousands of Bibles over the last few years and we are working to expand the program to many other school districts."

"Our members and volunteers from many local churches will place Bibles on tables during the lunch periods for students to pick up."

Katherine P. Marsh, senior manager of Media Relations for Orange County Public Schools, provided The Christian Post with a memo sent to high school principals last month regarding the distribution event.
"Prior to entry onto your campuses by any representative of World Changers, they will be cleared and registered as Volunteers and will have passed the appropriate background screenings," reads the memo.

Biblical Vision for Church and Your Life Urgently Needed

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 16, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- The following commentary is submitted by Dr. Michael A. Milton.
On the day of the tragic Connecticut shootings, I shared personal time with Michael Reagan, son of the 40th president of the United States. It just so happened, that Michael and I were to be speaking about an upcoming book. What really came out of that time was more than an endorsement for a book. I got to hear the passionate heart of a man who reflected both his frustration and his deep prayerful spirit for our nation.

We talked about how the Church must find its way back home to prophetically and faithfully help our people see that our problems we face are, first, spiritual in nature. Mike seemed to be saying to me that the tragedy of that day's awful event revealed the truth: the problems of our nation are altogether spiritual and not social; moral and not political. Michael told me that within hours, he suspected that there would be pundits talking about the need for gun control or for revisions in our educational system. He was right. But little attention has been paid to the real need: the need for revival -- for God to hear the cries of a desperate people and "come down" and save us from ourselves. Such a message cannot come from others. That must come from believers in the Church. This is our time to lead -- "not to lead from behind" -- but to lead on our knees; in prayer and in sounding forth biblical truth.

I wrote Finding a Vision for Your Church: Assembly Required out of that need. I initially prepared the book for our own seminaries' need, and the perennial need of the Church that we serve, to have a biblical guide for pastors, church planters, and those in revitalization in "assembling" a comprehensive ministry's plan that is thoroughly grounded in the supernatural vision of God. It has ended up being the book about so much more: a book about finding God's vision for our nation; for our lives.

This not a book on "how to write a 'business plan' for your church or ministry." To the contrary. It is a call to discover the divine burden, vales, vision, mission, philosophy of ministry and strategies of God for building His Church His way. When that happens, supernatural means lead to supernatural cures. That divine cure is what our nation needs so desperately. That divine cure is what the Church has access to and must share -- for the sake of all.

There are good resources for leading a congregation in articulating a vision for ministry. This book is not, therefore, any sort of frustrated polemic, but a personal, pastoral cry for pastors, church leaders, and every believer to return to a passion for revival as the catalyst for transformation. In a real way this book transcends a narrow focus of "writing a mission for your church" to "Finding a Vision for YOUR LIFE: Assembly required."

My conversation with Mike Reagan reminded me of that. The tragedies and enormous threats to our nation and world convinced me of it.

We have the answer. But do we really know God's burden that will lead to God's vision? Finding the vision is one thing. Assembling that vision for our church and our nation is another. But is there any other way? And if not now, when?
Read Dr. Milton's new book Finding a Vision for Your Church: Assembly Required which fully addresses this issue. A sample chapter can be obtained here.

Michael Anthony Milton (Ph.D., University of Wales) serves as the chancellor/CEO of Reformed Theological Seminary (one of the largest accredited seminaries in the country), a U.S. Army chaplain (instructing at the Armed Forces Chaplain School) and the James M. He is an author, songwriter, singer, ordained minister, former pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga, Tenn., and he previously served as the president of RTS/Charlotte. He is also a faculty member of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. Statement of Sandra Cano (The Former 'Mary Doe' of Doe V. Bolton) on the 40th Anniversary of 'Roe' and 'Doe'

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Jan. 16, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Sandra Cano, the real name of "Mary Doe," the fictitious name of the Plaintiff in Doe v. Bolton, the companion case to Roe v. Wade, is available for telephone/radio interviews concerning the 40th anniversary of her case, one of the two cases that brought legalized abortion to America.

Sandra Cano has the following to say:

"It is time for the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse my case, Doe v. Bolton, and Roe v. Wade. It is time to break this curse on our nation and on my life. I was fraudulently used by the Court system to bring abortion to America. No one should have a right to kill their children. No mother should ever want to do so. It is time for a breakthrough to cancel and annul Doe v. Bolton, which is a covenant with death. This year the Supreme Court should correct its own errors and reverse Roe and Doe. This is the year of freedom."
Doe v. Bolton was the companion case to Roe v. Wade and decided on the same day, January 22, 1973. Doe v. Bolton was the more deceptive case than Roe v. Wade and created the health exception, including psychological health, which allows abortion up to the moment of birth.

Sandra Cano has testified in federal court, by affidavit, that the original affidavit in Doe v. Bolton purporting to claim that she was seeking an abortion was in fact fraudulent and it is not her signature or with her knowledge.

But rather than being psychologically ill, she actually did not want to have an abortion and fled to Oklahoma rather than being forced to have an abortion, during the pendency of the case. For her full explanation, click here.

Sandra Cano has been a prominent historical figure in two major Supreme Court decisions on abortion. First, as the named plaintiff "Mary Doe" in Doe v. Bolton, and more importantly, she was the main party, in the only friend of the court brief cited by the U.S. Supreme Court in Gonzalez v. Carhart, the last Supreme Court decision on abortion which held that abortion did cause "severe depression" for some women.

Pastors' International Prayer Convocation for Revival in America

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Sunday January 13 about thirty pastors from Los Angeles and the Philippine Islands held a Pastors' Prayer Convocation for Revival in America. The prayer meeting was held at an industrial park where Cross Tower Ministries meets. The meeting was moderated by the host pastor, Rev. Jude M. Garcia.

Photo: Pastors' International Prayer Convocation for Revival in America

The Pastors' Prayer Convocation was birthed from the recent on-going revival and pockets of revival at Azusa Street, Bonnie Brae Street, and at the Los Angeles Mission in Torrance and other churches, including the preaching, teaching and ministry of Evangelist Verna Linzey, Evangelist Fred Berry and Evangelist Jim Linzey. The results of these pockets of revival include church growth at Global Covenant Church pastored by Japanese Pastor Alice (Tanaka) Hodges (meeting at the Mission in Torrance), baptisms with the Holy Spirit, conversions, slayings in the Spirit, and various other manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

The Rev. Dr. Verna Linzey (the youngest sister of the late Evangelist Franklin Hall, who ministered with Kathryn Kuhlman's former husband Dr. Waldrup), attended the convocation. She was addressed by Pastor Hodges as the "Ministry Daughter" of Kathryn Kuhlman. Rev. Linzey gave remarks in which she made this prophetic pronouncement:

"I bring you greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit has begun a new work bringing revival to Los Angeles. This pastors' prayer meeting is birthed out of it and will help take the flame of revival from Los Angeles to the uttermost parts of the world. Holy Spirit, come now upon these pastors and grant them a fresh impartation of your Spirit. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
Other pastors participated in wonderful ways. Rev. Joel Pollack, Pastor of Turning Point Christian Fellowship of Lakewood, prayed for marriages and families to remain strong; Rev. Jude Garcia, Pastor of Cross Tower Ministries of Carson, prayed for the unity of the churches in Christ; Bishop Francisco Arzadon from the Philippines shared how the Word of God is taught in public schools in the Philippines and in government offices; Rev. Bart Bartolome, Pastor of New love Fellowship of Long Beach, prayed for economic blessings on the United States; Dr. Jim Linzey, President of Military Bible Association, based in Escondido, prayed for Congress and the President and military leaders; Evangelist Mike Porter, whose international ministry is based in San Pedro, prayed for the youth of the nation; Rev. Alice (Tanaka) Hodges, Pastor of Global Covenant Church of Torrance where revival has been ongoing since Verna Linzey ministered there in November, prayed for the conversion of entire nations. The excellent worship music was led by Pastor Garcia's church band.

Pastor Garcia's spontaneous call for special music from anyone was surprisingly met by Verna Linzey, who is a recording artist in addition to being an evangelist and author. She sang her world-famous hymn "Oh Blessed Jesus" as a solo, with her son Jim harmonizing.

The theme Scripture read by Bishop Arzadon was II Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (KJV). The bishop described how the gospel came from America to the Philippines and how it is returning to America from the Philippines.

This convocation comes as an outgrowth of revival just one month after the move of the Holy Spirit at Bonnie Brae Street, where Verna Linzey ministered under a powerful anointing, and after the the move of the Holy Spirit at the Azusa Street Commemoration on December 7th at Union Church, next to the Azusa Street Mission site, and on December 8th on the very mission site where numerous Japanese-American pastors and their parishioners gathered together to celebrate what God did in 1906. The commemoration also included Rev. Mel Robeck, Ph.D., Professor, Fuller Theological Seminary; and Evangelist Fred Berry, Evangelist Verna Linzey and Evangelist Jim Linzey. Many of the pastors and parishioners, who are third and fourth generation Japanese-Americans flooded the altar to seek and receive from the Holy Spirit as Verna Linzey prayed with them and as the Holy Spirit came upon them mightily with the baptism with the Holy spirit, quaking and falling over under His power.

The presence of the Holy Spirit was also strongly felt at the recent Pastors' International Prayer Convocation for Revival in America as the pastors cried out to the Holy Spirit with shouts of praise with uplifted hands, quaking under the power of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance. The racial make-up among the pastors and evangelists were Filipino primarily, African American, Caucasian, and Japanese -- all praying for their nation -- the United States of America. The pastors feel led to continue the pastors' prayer meetings once a month as an outgrowth of revival.

Schindler Survivor Shares His Holocaust Experience

LOVELAND, Colo., Jan. 15, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Oskar Schindler's youngest Holocaust survivor died this month in California. His story will be shared at Lifetree Café community forums from coast to coast during the week of January 27, 2013.

The program features a Lifetree exclusive: a film of Leon Leyson, who was 13 years old when German industrialist Oskar Schindler put him to work in his enamelware factory near Krakow, Poland. Because of his short stature, Leyson stood on a wooden box so he could reach the handles on the machinery.

In the Lifetree film, Leyson describes how the Nazis captured his family members, confined them in the Jewish ghetto area of Krakow, and herded them onto trains bound for concentration camps. "Suddenly, I lost my most basic rights," recalls Leyson. "I was hungry all the time and frightened all the time." Leyson describes how Schindler pulled him out of a line bound for the death camps. Schindler named him "Little Leyson" and showed him favor with extra food rations.

After the war, Leyson moved to the United States. He remained quiet about his wartime experience until the release of the Oscar-winning Stephen Spielberg film "Schindler's List." Then Leyson gradually began to tell his story.

Lifetree's Thom Schultz, who conducted the exclusive interview, said Leyson revealed portions of his story he never shared before. "Leyson's story and his colorful characterization of Oskar Schindler provide a riveting peek into a horrific chapter of history," Schultz said.

Leyson died on January 12, 2013 at the age of 83, after a four-year battle with lymphoma.
