Netanyahu: Abbas is twisting historical facts

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of "blatantly distorting known historical facts" in an op-ed Abbas published in the New York Times earlier Tuesday.

Netanyahu refuted the article's claim that Israeli forces expelled the Palestinians from their land during the War of Independence in 1948, saying "It was the Arab armies, with Palestinian help, who attacked the Jewish state in order to destroy it." He added that "There is no mention of this in the article."

He emphasized the Palestinians' rejection of the UN's partition plan in 1947, while the Jews were willing to accept it.

Netanyahu also stated that the article misleadingly presents the Palestinian refugee issue as one of the causes that led to the outbreak of war in 1948.

"The Palestinian refugees were an outcome of that war, not a cause," the prime minister said. "Some Palestinian leaders themselves urged the Palestinians to vacate the land in order to make it easier for the Arab armies to fight for the destruction of Israel," he added.

The written statement issued by the Prime Minister's office on Tuesday further said that the "The Palestinian leadership saw the establishment of a Palestinian state as a way to continue the conflict with Israel, rather than end it."

"Abbas has chosen a strategy to establish a Palestinian state and used this improved position to wage a diplomatic and legal war against Israel," a senior Israeli government official, who declined to be named, also said.

Netanyahu's upcoming high-profile visit to Washington, where he will also address a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress on May 24, is widely seen as part of an Israeli diplomatic drive to persuade major international players to oppose the Palestinian bid.

Setting the stage for his U.S. trip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Israel's parliament on Monday that a Palestinian government that includes Hamas, whose founding charter calls for the Israel's destruction, could not be a partner for peace.

Abbas and Netanyahu Agree 1948 Israel/Palestine War has not Ended

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas agree at least on one point: The “conflict” between Arabs and the Jewish state was not settled in the 1948 War for Independence.

In his Knesset speech Monday night, the Prime Minister said, "This is not a conflict about 1967. This is a conflict about 1948, about the State of Israel's very existence. You must have noticed that yesterday's events [“Nakba Day”] did not take place on June 5, the day the Six Day War erupted; they took place on May 15, the day the State of Israel was established."

In his Monday op-ed in The New York Times, Abbas wrote, “It is important to note that the last time the question of Palestinian statehood took center stage at the General Assembly, the question posed to the international community was whether our homeland should be partitioned into two states. In November 1947, the General Assembly made its recommendation and answered in the affirmative. Shortly thereafter, Zionist forces expelled Palestinian Arabs to ensure a decisive Jewish majority in the future state of Israel, and Arab armies intervened. War and further expulsions ensued.”

Abbas' skillfully written op-ed implicitly rejected the existence of Israel by stating that the General Assembly partitioned “our homeland,” a phrase that previously had referred to a Jewish state in declarations by the League of Nations and in the Balfour Declaration, among others.

His description of the chain of events in 1947 and 1948 parallels several Muslim and Arab alterations of history and the Bible. His op-ed stated that Zionist forces expelled "Palestinian Arabs” after the United Nations recognition of Israel.

However, Britain still was in control of the country at the time under the Mandate, and Israel, where the Jewish people already were under siege by Arabs, did not establish itself as an independent nation until the following May. Also, the term "Palestinian Arabs” was not invented until years later. The entire country was referred to as Palestine under the British Mandate, a term coined by the ancient Romans.

Abbas also tried to establish as a fact that Arab armies “intervened” to stop the alleged efforts to expel Arabs and create a Jewish majority. Virtually every history book outside the Arab world notes that Arab terrorists attacked Jews for decades, most notably the 1929 pogrom in Hevron, where Arabs slaughtered 67 Jews.

The "intervention” was an Arab declaration of war against the existence of a Jewish state, which Arab forces vowed to annihilate.

Abbas wrote that “war and further expulsions” ensued but omitted reminding readers that every war against Israel was launched by Arabs. He did not mention the war drums that seven Arab nations beat until the beginning of the Six Day War in 1967.

Six years later, Egypt, followed by Syria, launched an unprovoked war with a large-scale invasion on Yom Kippur, the holiest Jewish holiday.

Muslim clerics and the Palestinian Authority also have tried to change the Bible, referring to binding of Isaac (Yitzchak) as the “binding of Ishmael.” They also have rejected any Jewish ties to the Temple Mount, which has been subject to an Arab campaign claiming that it was not built by Jews and that the Western Wall is a Muslim holy site, despite the Bible and archaological findings to the contrary..

Similar claims have been made that Rachel’s Tomb, south of Jerusalem and on the road to Efrat, actually was a Muslim holy place, even though Islam was not founded until nearly 2,500 years after the death of the Matriarch Rachel, wife of Jacob (Yaakov).

Pastor John Hagee's Letter to Glenn Beck: Prayer for Israel

Dear Glenn,

Sunday morning, May 15, 2011, at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio was a day set aside to express our appreciation for the State of Israel and the Jewish people. Hundreds of churches across America and around the world joined us as we stood in solidarity with Israel in this time of crisis.

What I didn’t know was that eleven anti-Israel protesters came to our 11:00 am Worship Service pretending to be worshipers. They sat in different sections of the church; some in the balcony and the majority on the main floor. As it turned out, none of them were Palestinians, they were all local radical activists.

As I stood to deliver the sermon, one female “Palestinian protester” stood at the edge of the balcony and began throwing anti-Israel propaganda leaflets on to the main floor of the sanctuary. She was not screaming; she was throwing leaflets by the handful on the heads of the people below.

The propaganda leaflets said, “We stand in solidarity with Palestinians and demand an end to U.S. support for Israeli occupation, apartheid and violations of the human rights of Palestinians. We stand in solidarity with the Third Intifada demanding the right of return to occupied territories.“ One side of the propaganda leaflet has the picture of a mother burying her child under the caption ”Your tithes are responsible for this!” The leaflet claimed Israel was responsible for the deaths of 1500 children since the year 2000.

Cornerstone Church has an outstanding security team consisting of highly trained and professional police officers. On this particular Sunday they were simply spectacular. They quickly located and escorted out the leaflet protester.

Five minutes later a second protester stood and started screaming as loudly as she could…”Free Palestine! Israel is apartheid. Israel has no right to the land.” She was quickly escorted out by security as the congregation cheered and applauded their action and her exodus.

Five minutes later a third protester stood and started screaming fanatical propaganda phrases against Israel that are used all over the world to attack Israel and the Jewish people. I now knew we had a major and highly organized protest on our hands whose objective was to shut the service down to prevent this nationally televised tribute to Israel. I told my congregation at this point: “The objective of these protesters is to shut down this tribute to Israel…I’m going to finish this sermon if it takes until 6:00 pm tonight.” The congregation cheered like it was the Super Bowl. These protesters did more to unite our congregation in one hour than a dozen preachers in the past few years.

Protester after protester every five minutes stood, screamed slogans and was escorted out by security. We finished our service in one accord and with total joy.

The protesters were taken to the chapel where they were photographed, identifications given and charged with criminal trespass by our officers. If they return to church property they will be sent to jail. Some were sent to jail immediately because of outstanding warrants for their arrest. One third of the staff of a local non-profit, the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center, participated in this anti-Israel church invasion.

In reviewing the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center facebook page it appears that at least five more of the eleven protesters participated in past protests publicized by Esperanza. Esperanza Peace and Justice Center receives tax funding from the City of San Antonio and the State of Texas.

Here is why we are going to continue to support the State of Israel and the Jewish people:

1) Israel is not a political issue…Israel is a Bible issue. Truth is not what you think it is; truth is not what I say it is; Truth is what the Bible says it is. The truth is, Israel is the only nation created by a Sovereign act of God in the Book of Genesis. Israel was not born on May 15, 1948…it was born 3500 years ago when Almighty God made an eternal covenant between Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants (see Genesis 13:14-15 and Genesis 17:7-8).

2) Those who believe the Bible are commanded in Psalms 122:6 to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.”

3) God has promised in Genesis 12:1-4 to bless every person and nation who blesses Israel and to curse every person and nation that curses Israel. The effectiveness of this divine mandate is seen in the lives of two Pharaohs. The Pharaoh that blessed Joseph and the Jewish people avoided starvation and knew unlimited prosperity; the Pharaoh that “knew not Joseph” and who drowned Jewish male children in the Nile River was himself turned to fish food in the Red Sea with his army. Exactly what you do to the Jewish people God will do to you.

4) In Luke 7 the blessing of healing came to the house of a Roman Centurion (a Gentile) with a sick servant. Why? Jesus Christ, a Jewish Rabbi entered the Roman Centurion’s house and prayed for his sick servant because “he built a synagogue” in the Land of Israel (see Luke 7:1-5).

5) St. Paul has commanded all Christians in Romans 15:27, “For if the Gentiles have benefited from their spiritual things (the Jewish people) it is the duty of the Gentiles to minister to them in material things.” What spiritual blessings have the Jewish people given to us? They have given to us the Word of God, the Patriarchs, the Prophets, the first family of Christianity: Mary, Joseph and Jesus, the 12 Disciples and the Apostle Paul. Take away the Jewish contribution to Christianity and there would be no Christianity.

6) We support Israel because Jesus Christ our Lord said, “I say to you, ‘Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” (Matthew 25:40). The phrase “My brethren” refers to the Jewish people. Jesus never called the Gentiles His brethren until the Cross. Before the Cross we were, as St. Paul stated, “outside the covenants of Israel, without God and without hope and of all men most miserable.”

7) We support Israel because Obadiah 1:15 and Joel 3:2 make it very clear that any nation, which includes America, that tries to divide the Land of Israel (which includes Jerusalem) will in fact experience the judgment of God. Simply stated, the day America turns its back on Israel will be the day God will turn His back on America.

8) We support Israel because Israel has the right to exist! We call on the President and Congress to demand that Hamas and the Palestinians recognize Israel’s right to exist or to cut off all foreign aid immediately. Israel has the right to defined and defensible borders. Israel has the right to defend itself from any nation or group of people that attack them.

To all Bible believers, let us UNITE to stand up and speak up for the State of Israel. God is watching!

Sincerely,

Pastor John Hagee

400 Protesters at JP Morgan Shareholders Meeting

Earlier this spring we exposed SEIU veteran leader Stephen Lerner and his plan to bring down the U.S. economy through an economic hit-job on JP Morgan Chase (see here, here, and here). That plan was supposed to start this summer. And today, it may have just kicked off.

According to reports, protesters have converged on JP Morgan Chase’s annual shareholders meeting in Columbus, OH. At least one person was arrested handcuffed as shareholders within the meeting sympathetic to the protesters’ cause invoked religion to rail against Chase leaders. From the AP:

Shareholders trying to get into JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s annual meeting held Tuesday in this midwestern city were greeted by heavy security and over 400 protesters shouting slogans outside every entrance.

At least one person was handcuffed after a group of about 400 protestors marched up Chase‘s property and placed a sign on a raft floating in a pond in the bank’s premises. The sign read: “Foreclosed: Chase sinks our economy.”

Police had each entrance blocked ahead of the meeting, as protesters gathered in the rain and cold chanting slogans such as “Make Banks Pay” and carried signs that said: “Chase gets rich, we lose homes, jobs, services.” At least 20 police cruisers circled the building.

Secret Service Interegate 13 Yr. Old Over Facebook Post

Timi Robertson said she had just finished lunch with a friend Friday when she got a phone call from her son's school.

"I answered it, and it's the school security guard who's giving me a heads up that the Secret Service is here with the Tacoma Police Department and they have Vito and they're talking to him," Robertson said.

After Osama bin Laden was killed, 13-year-old Vito LaPinta posted an update to his Facebook status that got the Feds attention.

"I was saying how Osama was dead and for Obama to be careful because there could be suicide bombers," says LaPinta.

A week later, while Vito was in his fourth period class, he was called in to the principal's office.

"A man walked in with a suit and glasses and he said he was part of the Secret Service," LaPinta said. "He told me it was because of a post I made that indicated I was a threat toward the President."

Supreme Court To Decide If The Govt. Can Dictate Message Of Christian Ministry

World Net Daily

The Supreme Court is being asked to decide whether the government can dictate the message of a Christian ministry. And a brief submitted along with the question cites a page of biblical references as authority, listing them even ahead of the U.S. Constitution, statutes and previous case law.

The idea of a forced message is among the issues that are being raised in the case involving the ministry of Daniel Chapter One, which has gone to the high court to protest the actions of the Federal Trade Commission and the Food and Drug Administration.

The case is set for a conference before the high court on May 19, a meeting at which the justices could decide to hear oral arguments on the challenge to the government.

The core of the dispute involves the government's allegations that the ministry, which advocates for herbal and natural remedies rather than using "toxic pharmaceuticals," made promises of cures from its treatments.

The FTC's own adjudication process earlier decided that the FTC was right in attacking the organization, trying to impose massive fines and then ordering the ministry, at its own expense, to tell all of its customers that the "toxic pharmaceuticals" were the only "scientifically proven" remedies.

The original petition for certiorari was filed several weeks ago, but a new filing today includes an amicus brief from two organizations that advocate on behalf of civil and religious rights. It raises specifically the question of government-ordered messages.

"The FTC should not be allowed to force petitioners to deliver the government's message with which they disagree," said the filing by the Conservative Legal Defense and Education Fund and the United States Justice Foundation.

"'For to compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions with which he disagrees is sinful and tyrannical.' Virginia Act for Establishing Religious Freedom (1785), reprinted in 4 The Founders Constitution 84 (P. Kurland & R. Lerger, eds.: Liberty Press: 1987)," the brief cites. "This principle of 'speaker autonomy' – the right 'to choose the content of his own message' – is a 'fundamental rule of protection under the First Amendment," it said.

Mob Attacks Christian Protestors In Egypt, 65 Injured

By SARAH EL DEEB
updated 5/15/2011 1:49:49 AM ET

An angry mob attacked a group of mainly Christian protesters demanding drastic measures to heal religious tension amid a spike in violence, leaving 65 people injured, officials said Sunday.

The Christian protesters have been holding their sit-in outside the state television building in Cairo for nearly a week following deadly Christian-Muslim clashes that left a church burned and 15 people dead.

More than 100 people rushed into the sit-in area, lobbing rocks and fire bombs from an overpass and charging toward the few hundred protesters sleeping in the area. Vehicles were set on fire and fires burned in the middle of the street.

Police and army troops fired in the air to disperse the crowd, and a tree was set on fire under the overpass.

The security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said the attackers had returned to avenge an earlier scuffle with the protesters who prevented a motorist from going through the area. A fight ensued, and the motorists fired blank rounds. The protester chased the motorist and beat him badly.

Marc Mino, a protest organizer, told state TV the motorists had provoked the fight after refusing to be searched before entering the protest area, then provoking the protesters.

Medics said 65 were injured in Sunday's melee, two in critical condition. The security official said nearly 50 of the riot instigators were arrested.

A witness, Alfred Raouf, said armored vehicles later blocked traffic and pedestrians from going down from the bridge toward the protest area. The number of protesters at the sit-in shrunk, but those remaining insisted the strike would continue as their area was cordoned off by the security, Raouf said.

Religious clashes and a rising wave of crime have proved to be a major challenge for Egypt's military rulers in the days following the 18-day uprising that led to the Feb. 11 ouster of ex-President Hosni Mubarak.

Following the religious violence, the military vowed to respond firmly to instigators of violence and promised to respond to a number of the Christian demands, including reopening nearly 50 churches. But no trial date has been set for those responsible for the church burning or the violence last week.

Schools Arranging Secret Abortions For Students

Schools are helping teenage girls keep abortions secret from their parents. Imogen Neale reports.

A MOTHER is angry her 16-year-old daughter had a secret abortion arranged by a school counselor.

Helen, not her real name, found out about the termination four days after it had happened. "I was horrified. Horrified that she'd had to go through that on her own, and horrified her friends and counselors had felt that she shouldn't talk to us," she said.

She had suspected something was wrong, but her daughter insisted her tears were over everyday teenage dramas.

But Helen confronted her daughter's friends, who said the counselor had taken the girl for a scan and to doctors. "I didn't know that they could do that."

Helen said teachers could discuss how a student was doing in school or phone parents when their child misbehaved, but would then keep life-changing situations such as abortions secret.

Her daughter had since told her the counselor "wasn't very forthcoming" with advice. The counselor did ask the girl if she had talked to her parents, but never pursued it.

Helen said follow-up counseling for her daughter was "nonexistent". She concedes patient confidentiality is a tricky issue and said her child feared she'd be disowned. "She's come to realize that's not the case. But if you're responsible for them, surely you should be told."

Helen has been too upset to approach the school. "Afterwards I was too wild, and I probably still am."

Another mother who was worried for her 15-year-old daughter "hit a brick wall" when she approached the school, and eventually discovered it was a friend of her daughter's who had undergone an abortion. "But I went through the horror of knowing that under the legislation, they did not need to say anything to me."

One teacher told the Sunday Star-Times she had seen parents become "absolutely livid" after finding out they had been kept out of abortion decisions.

She knew of a Year 13 student who had had two abortions – one with her parents' knowledge, and one without.

She said the law catered for the "lowest common denominator" – pregnancy as a result of incest or rape, but girls sometimes did not want to tell their parents for fear they would react badly or demand prosecutions for statutory rape if their daughters were under 16.

Christchurch lawyer Kathryn Dalziel, who wrote Privacy In Schools: A guide to the Privacy Act for principals, teachers and boards of trustees, said students who saw counselors were promised confidentiality, and the service was bound by the Health Privacy Code.

"When it comes to contraception and abortion, they [counselors] would need the consent of the person before they could share information with a parent or the school," she said.

"If that protection disappeared, you can pretty well guarantee the young person won't tell the counselor a thing – particularly the thing you need them to talk about."

And a counselor who broke the rules and told a parent without the child's consent could be struck off.

Dalziel said she would be devastated if any of her daughters had an abortion without her support. "But knowing it is something that could happen, my whole thing about raising my children is to know how to listen and learn and get information."

Guidance counselor Helen Bissett said the situation could be an "ethical nightmare", and a number of schools now had wellness centers so girls could see a nurse, not a counselor.

Youth Event Volunteer Says Church Has Failed Todays Youth Bribing Them With Pizza And Video Game Gospel

Leadership Journal has a tremendous, much-needed commentary on the lack of depth in many youth ministry groups.

It still seems pretty obvious to us: if you love Jesus, you’ll love him whether it’s fun or not. And if you aren’t interested in Jesus unless it’s all fun and games, you don’t love Jesus…you love fun and games. No wonder many kids “leave the faith” in young adulthood. They were never really in it. Drew Dyck writes:

A few years ago I volunteered at an event put on by a national youth ministry.

The evening was fun but grueling. We bobbed for apples, captured flags, and raced eggs across the floor using only our noses. The games culminated with a frigid indignity: I laid on my back and let three giggling teenagers make an ice cream sundae on my face.

As I toweled chocolate syrup from my chin, a leader ordered the teens into a semicircle. It was time for the devotional, which included a gospel presentation—but it was a gospel presentation that made me want to stand up and scream.

“Being a Christian isn’t hard,” he told the group. “You won’t lose your friends or be unpopular at school. Nothing will change. Your life will be the same, just better.”

Maybe his words would have slipped by me if they hadn’t been such blatant reversals of Jesus’ own warnings about the offensiveness of his message or the inevitable hardships of following him.

I glanced at the teens. One was flicking Doritos chips at a friend. Others whispered to each other or stared at the floor. None of them seemed to be listening. And why should they? I wondered. Who cares about something that involves no adventure, no sacrifice, and no risk?

Unfortunately what I witnessed that night is hardly unique. Often ministries, especially youth ministries, are heavy on fun and light on faith. It’s fired up entertainment and watered down gospel.

Perhaps we’ve settled for entertaining rather than developing followers of Jesus.

…The real problem is when they displace spiritual formation and teaching the Bible…we’re distracted from doing the real work of youth ministry—fostering robust faith.

Ohio School Punishes Student For Not Immediately Reporting Classmates Having Sex On School Bus

DAYTON, Ohio – An Ohio woman says a charter school is punishing her daughter for not immediately reporting that she saw two classmates having sex on a school bus and for changing her seat during the bus trip.

Saundra Roundtree told The Associated Press on Monday that her 14-year-old daughter had changed seats with a boy who wanted to sit beside a girl on a Dayton View Academy school trip.

Roundtree says her daughter told her at home afterward that she later saw the two having sex but was afraid to say anything.

Roundtree notified school officials. She says they told her Friday that her daughter cannot attend the eighth-grade prom or picnic. The mother thinks that's unfair.

The school did not immediately return calls Monday.

Dayton's WHIO-TV reports the two other students were suspended.

Councilman To Introduce Bill That Would Make Watching Porn In NY Libraries A Misdemeanor

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Two New York City councilmen said they want to introduce a bill that would make it illegal to watch porn within 100 feet of a child in the library. The legislation would make it a misdemeanor and could be punishable with up to $1,000 in fines.

Council Members David Greenfield (D-Brooklyn) and Eric Ulrich (R-Queens) are spearheading the effort to keep public libraries g-rated for minors. "The last place we should be worried about our children spending time is a public library. They are safe havens for children, and not safe havens for perverts," said Ulrich. "It's a violation of public decency and it shouldn’t be there to begin with."

PIX 11 first did a story about library card holders who were watching porn in the library. It made some people very uncomfortable but the Brooklyn Library said it was legal, because it falls under First Amendment rights.

Many, however, felt it violated decency laws and could expose children to pornography that they should not be seeing.

"Walking around I often see people have it on their computers," said an upset library visitor.

There are three library branches in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. The Queens Library has so far done the most to limit porn surfing on its computers. No matter your age, there is a filter system in place that prevents anyone from searching for illicit sites. With one caveat -- if you are an adult, you can remove the filter and watch whatever you would like.

The Queens Library released a statement Monday to the PIX 11 News stating: "Customers who are viewing graphic material that is visible and disturbing to others are violating Queens Library's behavior policy, and are told by a staff member to desist, similar to how any other behavioral disruption in the library would be dealt with."

Immunity Gene Cures California Man Of AIDS

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) — A 45-year-old man now living in the Bay Area may be the first person ever cured of the deadly disease AIDS, the result of the discovery of an apparent HIV immunity gene.

Timothy Ray Brown tested positive for HIV back in 1995, but has now entered scientific journals as the first man in world history to have that HIV virus completely eliminated from his body in what doctors call a “functional cure.”

Brown was living in Berlin, Germany back in 2007, dealing with HIV and leukemia, when scientists there gave him a bone marrow stem cell transplant that had astounding results.

“I quit taking my HIV medication the day that I got the transplant and haven’t had to take any since,” said Brown, who has been dubbed “The Berlin Patient” by the medical community.

Brown’s amazing progress continues to be monitored by doctors at San Francisco General Hospital and at the University of California at San Francisco medical center.

“I’m cured of HIV. I had HIV but I don’t anymore,” he said, using words that many in the scientific community are cautiously clinging to.

Scientists said Brown received stem cells from a donor who was immune to HIV. In fact, about one percent of Caucasians are immune to HIV. Some researchers think the immunity gene goes back to the Great Plague: people who survived the plague passed their immunity down and their heirs have it today.

UCSF’s Dr. Jay Levy, who co-discovered the HIV virus and is one of the most respected AIDS researchers in the world, said this case opens the door to the field of “cure research,” which is now gaining more attention.

“If you’re able to take the white cells from someone and manipulate them so they’re no longer infected, or infectable, no longer infectable by HIV, and those white cells become the whole immune system of that individual, you’ve got essentially a functional cure,” he explained.

Sketchers Shape Up Shoes For 7 yr olds Has Many Parents Outraged

NYDailyNews.com

Skechers Shape-up shoes may the all the rage among ladies looking to sculpt their rear ends without hitting the gym, but they’re falling flat with parents.

Ads for the Skechers Shape-ups for Girls are running on the Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon during programming aimed at kids as young as preschool age.

The sneakers have a big celebrity fan in spokeswoman Kim Kardashian, who credits the shoes with toning her legs and world-famous behind, but ads for a glittery pink youth version are causing alarm with parents worried over the message they may send to young girls when it comes to body image.

The animated commercial shows a girl band playing a concert for a mass of screaming fans.

"Heidi's got new Shape-ups, got everything a girl wants. She's got the height, got the bounce, yes, she's looking good and having fun," one girl sings.

The slim, cartoon girls are chased by lethargic boys dressed as hot dogs, cupcakes and ice cream, a scenario that critics say creates a double standard for young girls and boys.

"By not only marketing a shoe line to young girls, but also not even having an equivalent for boys Skechers is sending a clear message to girls and women – you're never too young to start hating your body," Change.org wrote in a petition.

Skechers does not make Shape-ups in styles for boys.

Parents are not pleased that their young children are being exposed to commercials that link being thin with being happy – nor do they appreciate the marketing for a product aimed at toning your glutes.

A Skechers spokesperson said the shoes are not made in preschooler size – they start at size 2, the average size of a 7-year-old.
