University of Minnesota president Robert Bruininks

A program proposed at the University of Minnesota would result in required examinations of teacher candidates on "white privilege" as well as "remedial re-education" for those who hold the "wrong" views, according to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education.

The organization, which promotes civil liberties on the campuses of America's colleges and universities, has dispatched a letter to University of Minnesota President Robert Bruininks asking him to intervene to prevent the adoption of policies proposed in his College of Education and Human Development.

"The university's general counsel should be asked to comment as soon as possible," said the letter from Adam Kissel, an officer with The FIRE. "If the Race, Culture, Class, and Gender Task Group achieves its stated goals, the result will be political and ideological screening of applicants, remedial re-education for those with the 'wrong' views and values, [and] withholding of degrees from those upon whom the university's political reeducation efforts proved ineffective."

By any "non-totalitarian" standards, he wrote, the the plans being made so far by the school are "severely unjust and impermissibly intrude into matters of individual conscience."

Kissel wrote that it appears that the university "intends to redesign its admissions process so that it screens out people with the 'wrong' beliefs and values – those who either do not have sufficient 'cultural competence' or those who the college judges will not be able to be converted to the 'correct' beliefs and values even after remedial re-education."

"These intentions violate the freedom of conscience of the university's students. As a public university bound by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, the university is both legally and morally obligated to uphold this fundamental right," he wrote.

WND messages left with the university requesting comment did not generate a response today.

Among the issues discussed in the plans are requirements that teachers would be able to instruct students on the "myth of meritocracy" in the United States, "the history of demands for assimilation to white, middle-class, Christian meanings and values," and the "history of white racism."

The demands appear to be similar to those promoted earlier at the University of Delaware.

As WND reported, the Delaware university's office of residential life was caught requiring students to participant in a program that taught "all whites are racist."

School officials immediately defended the teaching, but in the face of a backlash from alumni and publicity about its work, the school decided to drop the curriculum, although some factions later suggested its revival.

FIRE, which challenged the Delaware plan, later produced a video explaining how the institution of the university pushed for the teachings, was caught and later backed off:

Florida Middle School Students suspended for participating in "Kick A Jew Day"

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

NAPLES, Fla.  —  Ten students at a Naples middle school were suspended after district officials say they participated in "kick a Jew day."
District spokesman Joe Landon says a Jewish student at North Naples Middle School student reported being kicked on Thursday. The school's principal addressed the entire student body the next morning and asked for anyone with information about the alleged attack to come forward.
The district determined that 10 students should be punished. They each served one day of in-school suspension Monday.
Landon says the first 20 minutes of the school day, which is normally used for reading and tutoring, will now be used to teach students about respect, kindness and ways to prevent bullying.
No criminal charges have been filed.

MyFox Twin Cities Report
RICHFIELD, Minn. - A scanned version of the Best Buy Black Friday ad on BestBuy.com wishes Muslims a happy Eid al-Adha, which falls on the extended Thanksgiving weekend.
Since the ad was posted, a message board on BestBuy.com has filled up with plenty of responses. Tuesday morning, a discussion of the ad on BestBuy.com had more than 100 responses. Some of those comments were supportive of the greeting and some called for a boycott of the retailer, including boldly racist remarks.
Here's a look at some of the posts on the BestBuy.com message board :
I worked part time at Best Buy two years ago and am shocked by this! The sad thing is that I think it will cost Best Buy a lot of business, and some MAJOR bad publicity which will hurt the employees who had nothing to do with the decision. What in the heck were you thinking Best Buy?????
-christmas_shopr
Happy Eid Al-Adha but no Merry Christmas? I assume your next advertisements will say Merry Christmas. Otherwise, I will no longer shop at Best Buy. I will shop at those businesses which support Christmas.

Thank you Best Buy for the Eid Greetings!! I plan to spend more money at BB. Thank you for being inclusive of various cultures.

Best Buy community supervisor Elizabeth responded to the comments with the following statement :

"Thanks for sharing your point of view regarding our recent ad, which included a wish for a “Happy Eid al-Adha”.

Best Buy’s customers and employees around the world represent a variety of faiths and denominations. We respect that diversity and choose to greet our customers and employees in ways that reflect their traditions.

We do use the word “holiday” in some of our advertising because it is meant to be inclusive to everyone. However, just as we have in the past, we will also reference specific holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa in our weekly ads, store signage and other advertising vehicles.

We encourage our employees to interact with customers naturally and feel free to wish them a Merry Christmas if they are celebrating that holiday.
Thanks again for your feedback."
Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a Muslim holiday lasting three days. The feast is based on Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son to display his obedience to God. According to the Koran, a voice from heaven stopped Ibrahim, allowing him to sacrifice a ram instead.
In the spirit of sacrifice, families observing Eid al-Adha eat about a third of their meal, sharing the rest with family and friends and donating some to the poor.

JMC Ministries Response

We cannot say Merry Christmas but we can wish a Happy Eid al-Adha.  Fellow Christians we need to rise up and take a stand against this and take back Thanksgiving, Christmas and  even Easter, and remember why it is we celebrate them in the first place.  It isn't about Turkey and Black Friday and sales why we celebrate Thanksgiving, but to give thanks to God for supplying our needs and being around friends and family to share this time.  Christmas is not about Santa Claus and getting presents or even a little red nosed reindeer.  It is about the birth of Christ.  Without the birth of Jesus there would be no Christmas to ever celebrate.  We must get back to our roots and stand firm unshaken in them and not be deceived by all the world is trying to make these holidays out to be.

ACLU At it again, attacking one Churches Christmas Nativity Scene

“The City’s practice of funding a Nativity scene in the City’s annual ‘Christmas on the Cumberland’ celebration is constitutionally suspect and such practice must be remedied.” –ACLU

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — The pastor at Grace Church of the Nazarene says he and his congregation will present their “Christmas on the Cumberland” Nativity scene despite objections from the American Civil Liberties Union.
Steve Estep, the church’s pastor, said Saturday the church went through all the proper channels to present the display, and won’t let the ACLU effort diminish their celebration of the season, and “what it’s really all about.”
“We’re gonna do what we’ve been doing,” Estep said.
The ACLU sent a letter to City Attorney Lance Baker on Nov. 11, alleging the city’s riverfront Christmas observance violated the First Amendment in an “apparent promotion and endorsement of Christianity.” …
Later in the story…
…the ACLU is not asking the city do away with the “Christmas on the Cumberland” celebration altogether, rather implement an “equal access” policy to allow other religious and non-religious groups to participate, clearly state the city’s non-endorsement and not provide funding for a religious display.
Of course, the pastor has said the church is not keeping anyone out or preventing anyone from attending. The Dec. 11 and 12 performances will include choirs from multiple churches of varying faiths at McGregor Park.

Children work to smuggle food and other items across War Torn Border in Middle East

Torkham, Afghanistan (CNN) -- Sabar Mina is cloaked in a light green shawl tinged with dirt. She is holding an empty flour sack that she plans on filling with firewood.
Her eyes are soft and kind, but they bear the signs of exhaustion. There's a reason for that. Instead of going to school, the eight-year-old walks an hour to work.
All day long Sabar takes items back and forth between two of the most dangerous countries in the world, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Normally she smuggles flour from the Pakistan side where she is from. Pakistan has a ban on exporting food items to Afghanistan because of a spike in food prices, so flour is a hot commodity right now.
Once over the border Sabar gathers and carries firewood to take back from Afghanistan. Her job is hard and sometimes dangerous.
"When we bring the flour the Pakistani police stop us and they hit us, beat us," she said.
But that is nothing compared to one of the other dangers of the job. Sabar was working the border with her younger sister when a suicide bomber blew himself up killing several people. It was the second terror attack in three months on this border.
"When the bomb exploded I was on the Afghanistan side with my sister." She said: "We were crying and then we ran away to the Pakistan side."
But it hasn't stopped her or her sister from working. There are hundreds of children just like them. One charitable organization there estimates 300 children per day work the border at Torkham.

Monday, November 23, 2009

LINCOLN, Neb. —  Police in Lincoln, Neb., are investigating the armed robbery of a pastor at his church.
Police say the pastor, 52-year-old Christopher Anderson, opened a door at Glad Tidings Assembly of God for someone who was knocking late Saturday night. The man asked for money, but Anderson said he didn't have any to give.
Anderson told police that when he started to close the door, the man grabbed him by the hair and slammed his face against a table.
Police say the robber held a knife to the pastor's face as he took his wallet, watch and gold wedding ring.
Officer Katie Flood said Monday that no arrests have been made yet.

Jesse Jackson Attacks African Americans who are against the Health Care Reform

We received this article from Christian Newswire and felt we needed to share it.  We have close friends who are African American and they are against what President Obama is doing with the Health Care reform, and we feel Mr. Jackson has out right attacked them. We thank our friends for standing against what is morally wrong and still Stand for Christian Values We salute you!

Jesse Jackson? Color Him Ridiculous!

Day Gardner, National Black Pro-Life Union Comments on Remark Made By Jesse Jackson at Congressional Black Caucus Reception

WASHINGTON, Nov. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- At a reception, held by the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Foundation as part of a series of events revolving around the 25th anniversary of Jackson's run for president, Jesse Jackson stated: "We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill," He said. "You can't vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man."

What a dumb thing to say. I don't pretend to know the reasons why Rep. Arthur Davis, (D-AL) voted against the health care bill earlier this month and I'm not implying that he is pro-life, but at least he's not drinking the same flavor kool-ade as Mr. Jackson.

All Americans should question the health care monster!

The sad thing is that Jesse Jackson is a man that I once looked up to--way back when he was a power house for human rights, especially the right to life for unborn children.

Jesse once identified himself as a person who would have been aborted if medical counsel had been followed. Jesse Jackson once wrote: "Human life begins when the sperm and egg join . . . and the pulsation of life takes place." He said, "From that point, life may be described differently (as an egg, embryo, fetus, baby, child, teen-ager, adult), but the essence is the same.''

I remember way back--when he spoke at the 1977 March for Life asking the question: ''What happens to the moral fabric of a nation that accepts the aborting of the life of a baby without a pang of conscience.''

Back in the day, in an ''Open Letter to Congress'' Jesse Jackson stated "as a matter of conscience" he must "oppose the use of federal funds for a policy of killing infants."

Wow! Where is that guy?

I believe the Jesse Jackson--the civil rights leader from way back--would be leading the pack today against the funding of abortion as health care.

Black children are specifically targeted by the abortion industry which places most of its abortion killing centers in minority and urban neighborhoods. They are denied their civil rights including the most basic right to life; a right which Martin Luther King, Jesse Jackson, our ancestors and others so proudly worked for, marched for and many of them died for.

Sadly, today, Jesse Jackson is just a mere shadow of the man he once was. He is no longer a power house- -instead he is a bought off, shriveled, and empty shell.

I remember a much younger, and wiser "Reverend" Jesse Jackson leading the thunder of children's voices shouting..."I AM SOMEBODY!" And Mr. Jackson, though you have lost your way, I pray that one day you will remember that each and every unborn child is somebody, too!

The National Black Pro-Life Union is an organization founded to serve as a clearing house to coordinate the flow of communications among all African American pro-life organizations and individuals in order to better network and combine resources.

We realize that if we are to be successful, it is necessary to share information and/or resources as well as "who gets the credit." We acknowledge that the real credit for any good thing always goes to GOD-not man.

Teen Sent to Detention Center for not Visiting His Dad

A Michigan teen has been sentenced to four days in juvenile detention for refusing to visit his father.

Jacob Mastrogiovanni, 14, lives with his mother in Warren. His father, who has joint custody, lives in New Baltimore.Mastrogiovanni said he has deliberately missed court ordered visitations with his father, and because of that, Macomb County Judge John Foster has ruled he should be held in contempt of court and sentenced to time in a youth home.Mastrogiovanni’s mother, Dawn Platevoet, said her son is a hard working student and that she fears for his safety inside the Macomb Juvenile Center.“I’m very worried. I’m very concerned for the well-being of my son,” Platevoet said. “The child is being torn in between this kind of situation due to the friend of the court. They’re not looking at the best interest for my son.”Mastrogiovanni said staying at the youth home for four days would not change his attitude toward his father.“I guess he’s going to have to be punished. I don’t necessarily like that he’s in there but something has to be done,” Mastrogiovanni’s father, Victor, said by phone Thursday.Mastrogiovanni would not be specific with why he was refusing to spend time with his father. His reasonings were recorded in a confidentiality agreement being held by the court.Mastrogiovanni said he would rather be in a youth home than visit his father and that he’s willing to go back to the youth home again if required by the court.Mastrogiovanni’s family and friends have made signs protesting the judge’s decision.“Going to a youth home to be with criminals, for what reason? What is this going to solve? Is it going to benefit the child? Is it going to make matters worse?” Platevoet said.Mastrogiovanni’s mother and grandmother escorted him to the center Thursday evening. He is scheduled to be released Sunday.

Runaway Teens On the Rise

After two high-profile teenage runaway cases already this month, police are pointing to a growing trend -- more and more teens are taking to the streets. As of Thursday, there were more than 120 missing teens in Jefferson County, and most if not all of them have run away from home. That has police, parents and support groups working to stop a troubling trend.YMCA Safe Place Services is celebrating 35 years of offering crisis support to local teens. But workers there said the last few years have been the toughest."Either kids come into our program with everything they own because they've packed up and left, or they come with nothing," said Matt Reed, executive director of YMCA Safe Place Services in Louisville. That shelter serves any teen in trouble -- not just runaways -- and typically houses more than 700 of them each month."Four or five years ago, we were serving maybe 400 or 450 in our shelter, so there's been a real dramatic increase," Reed said.Police are seeing a jump as well."We've been seeing an increase in the number of runaway teens," said Lt. Tom Dreher, with the Louisville Metro Police Department's Crimes Against Children Unit. And Jefferson County is the heart of the problem in Kentucky. It's home to two out of three teen runaways in the state. Dreher said their numbers jumped 17 percent from 2007 to 2008. His unit now works about 200 runaway cases each month -- so many that the department is adding to its missing persons staff.

Somlian Pastor killed on way home from church

Two masked members of the al-Shabaab Muslim militia shot and killed a pastor in Somalia as he drove home from a worship service, according to reports.

Mogadishu pastor Ali Hussein Weheliye was killed in the attack in October, but reports of the incident didn't come out until this week.

Experts at the missions think-tank the Joshua Project estimate Somalia is 99 percent Muslim. International Christian Concern's Jonathan Racho agrees with that statistic and says the overwhelming numbers make it difficult to be a Christian in Somalia.

"A vast majority of Somalis are Muslims, but there are hundreds of Christians in Somalia. This pastor was the pastor of an underground church," Racho said.

"Christians in Somalia have to go underground and they don't give away their identities because once al-Shabaab knows someone is a Christian, that is a death sentence for that person," he said.
