Obama Effectively Ruined America's Relationship With Israel

A Jerusalem-based Messianic Jewish ministry dedicated to solidarity with Israel says President Barack Obama has effectively destroyed the special relationship between Israel and the United States with his demand that the Jewish nation return to its pre-1967 borders.

President Obama has been forced to concede that he has serious differences with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the question of a future state for the Palestinians. After Friday's lengthy meeting in the Oval Office, Netanyahu told Obama that Israel values the U.S. president's efforts to advance the peace process, but he made it clear that Israel cannot return to the 1967 borders, which he calls "indefensible."

"There's a traditional, special relationship between America and Israel that Obama is basically throwing out the window in a sense," laments David Parsons, spokesman for the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ). "Obama has declared the settlements are no longer legitimate and [that Israel has to] go back to the '67 line."

And Parsons believes some serious questions will be raised about Obama's leadership in places like Europe.

"They may...be an even more important player now," he suggests. "They'll probably jump on this line of the '67 borders, but even they are starting to have questions about President Obama in the foreign policy field [and] the fact that he's just not being coherent and clear in enunciating policies that are really in our interest."

But now that the Palestinian Authority has the support of Obama, the ICEJ spokesman predicts the Palestinians will dig in their heels on the border issue.
