To Battle Student Fights One Utah School Fines Students For Fighting

The Granite School District is allowing one of its high schools to fine students for fighting. Tuesday night the program got the final approval, but it's been in effect for six weeks.

The deal is if a student fights at Granger High School, they pay $50. This came after a fight was caught on tape between two West Jordan Middle School students posted online in December.

There have been 37 assaults at Granger High this year, according to west Valley City Police. School officials say detention and suspension was not working.

The money collected goes back into school activities and arts. This program will run the remainder of the year and next year as well.
