Band wants to lead worship, not just entertain

A new group called the Andy Needham Band, hailing from New England, has emerged in contemporary worship music.

Andy Needham BandMembers of the group started writing and playing as a hobby, participating in summer camps and worship conferences. In the last year, they made the transition to a full time band and are releasing their first national CD this week.
Andy Needham wrote or co-wrote all of the songs, which are sung in all sorts of churches.
"Their Sunday morning experiences may look a little different sometimes even doing the same songs but in a different way with different instrumentation or styling," says Needham. "I think it reflects God's character and nature that we're not all cookie cutter worshippers, that we don't do it all the same, so I think it's a good thing."
Needham's purpose is not to so much to entertain but to reach the hearts of worshippers.
