Mother, Father and Their New Baby Share Same Birthday

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- When Jamal White, Jr. entered the world Wednesday at Regions Hospital he had already accomplished something with extremely long odds. He managed to share the same birth date with his parents, Tiara and Jamal White, Sr.

Jamal, Jr. was born on Wednesday, Nov. 24, the same birthday shared by his parents, who live in Saint Paul.

"He's the best birthday present we could ever had," Tiara told KARE, "Now his birthday will be the only one that matters to us."

Jamal Jr. was born at 10 a.m. Wednesday, and is a healthy 7 pounds, 13 ounces. He's the first child for both Jamal and Tiara.

"It's just fate!" said Jamal, Sr. about sharing the same birth date with his wife and first child.

The couple already shared the same last name when they met in 2009. Jamal, Sr. told Tiara, "It's fate. Same last name and birthday!"

Tiara laughed. "I didn't believe him at first. Then he showed me his drivers license and sure enough, same last name, same birthday!"

Tiara, who was born at the same hospital, didn't need any I.D. for her end of that conversation. Her birthdate, 11-24-1989 appears in a tatoo on her left shoulder right below the word "Saggitarius."

It wasn't planned that way and the birth was not induced to create a birthday that will be easy for the White family to remember.

"They told us he was due November 19th," Tiara said, "And that if he wasn't born by the 26th they'd induce labor."

When she went into labor on the 23rd, she thought for sure the babe would come that day.

"It was a really long labor," Jamal said.

"Yes, he hung in there, almost as if he was determined to come on the 24th," Tiara added.

The odds of three persons in the same family sharing the same birthday, according to one mathematician, is one in 133,155. Although the dynamics of that probability equation (365 x 365)would be affected by the fact that Jamal's parents chose to be together.

President Obama To Freeze Federal Wages For 2 Years

Click to read full story from CNNMoney.com

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- President Obama will announce a two-year freeze in the wages of federal employees Monday, with the intention of saving $60 billion over the next 10 years.

Obama was scheduled to announce the proposal later Monday.

According to an administration statement, the two-year pay freeze will save $2 billion for the remainder of fiscal year 2011, $28 billion over the next five years, and more than $60 billion over the next decade.

The freeze does not apply to military personnel, but will apply to all civilian federal employees, including those in various alternative pay plans and those working at the Department of Defense.

"This freeze is not to punish federal workers or to disrespect the work that they do," the White House said in a statement. "It is the first of many actions we will take in the upcoming budget to put our nation on sound fiscal footing -- which will ask for some sacrifice from us all."

Wycliffe Bible Translators Raise $250M To Help Finish Last 2,000 Translations

click to read original article from Christian Post.com
The world’s largest Bible translation organization has already raised nearly $250 million, or one-fourth of its $1 billion goal, for the campaign to translate the Bible into every language by 2025.

Even in the current economic tough times, supporters donated generously and helped the campaign make significant progress within two years, said Wycliffe’s president. The ten-year Last Languages Campaign has the ambitious goal of beginning Bible translation for all languages that still need the scriptures by 2025.

“To raise nearly a quarter of a billion dollars in two years is impressive even in a booming economy. In the current climate, it’s nothing short of miraculous,” said Bob Creson, Wycliffe USA president and CEO. “We are so grateful to God and our supporters who partner with us to make sure that all people have access to the Bible in the language and form that is most meaningful to them.”

When the campaign first launched in November 2008, an anonymous donor gave an astounding sum of $50 million to Wycliffe for the Last Languages Campaign. It was the largest single gift in the ministry’s 75-year history.

More than 2,000 languages still lack translations of the Bible, leaving more than 350 million people without Scripture in their own languages. The Last Languages Campaign was launched to gather people, prayer and financial resources to at least start Bible translation in all remaining languages within our lifetime.

“In spite of economic uncertainty at home and a daunting task abroad-including political roadblocks, security concerns, restricted access to certain locations and the sheer number of languages yet to be translated – we are is participating in the greatest acceleration of the pace of Bible translation in history,” Creson said. “These financial resources will ensure that the mission stays on this pace.”

There are more than 6,000 languages spoken in the world and about a third of them do not have Scripture translation. The Last Languages Campaign will use cutting-edge translation techniques to accelerate the pace of language development and Bible translation from 125 years to 17 years.

In 1999, Wycliffe was averaging 20 new translation starts a year and there were about 3,000 languages left.

Ten years later, however, Wycliffe had 109 new translation starts in 2009. The average new translation starts for the past 10 years is 75, noted Paul Edwards, executive director of Wycliffe’s Last Language Campaign, in an earlier interview with The Christian Post.

“Our hope and desire as we look at 2010-2011 is that North American churches can wake up to and choose to engage in this thrilling, final lap,” said Edwards. “Can you name another 2,000-year-long continuous movement that is going to have its closing in our lifetime?”

The exact amount given in pledges to the Last Languages Campaign as of Oct. 31 is $231.5 million.

Founded in 1942, Wycliffe Bible Translators exists to make the Bible accessible to all people in the language and form that is most meaningful for them. Nearly 6,000 translators, linguists, aviators, humanitarian workers, educators and administrators, along with dozens of partnering organizations, are working in 90 countries on six continents.

Besides Bible translation, Wycliffe also contributes to community development by establishing water purification systems, AIDS education, human rights and community empowerment programs.

2 Churches Torn Down In Tanzania

click to read original article from Christian Post.com
ZANZIBAR, Tanzania (CDN) - Radical Islamists are suspected in the demolition of two church buildings on Tanzania’s semi-autonomous island of Zanzibar on Sunday (Nov. 21), as members of the congregations have since received death threats from Muslims.

The church buildings belonging to the Tanzania Assemblies of God (TAG) and the Evangelical Assemblies of God Zanzibar (EAGZ) in Masingini village, five kilometers (nearly three miles) from the center of Zanzibar city, were torn down at about 8 p.m., said Bishop Fabian Obeid of EAGZ. Mwera police received reports on the attacks on Monday morning (Nov. 22).

The latest in a string of violent acts aimed at frightening away Christians in the Muslim-dominated region, the destruction on the island off the coast of East Africa has raised fears that Muslim extremists could go to any length to limit the spread of Christianity, church leaders said.

“One Muslim was heard saying, ‘We have cleansed our area by destroying the two churches, and now we are on our mission to kill individual members of these two churches – we shall not allow the church to be built again,’” said one church member who requested anonymity.

The TAGT brick building was under construction and nearing completion; members of the congregation had gone to worship in their new building for the first time on Sunday. The EAGT building where more than 30 members met was a mud structure.

EAGT Pastor Michael Maganga and TAG Pastor Dickson Kaganga said they were fearful about the future of the church in Masingini. Pastors in Zanzibar have scheduled a meeting on Saturday (Nov. 27) to discuss how to cope with the destruction of the two buildings, said the chairman of the Pastors Fellowship in Zanzibar, Bishop Leonard Masasa of EAGT church.

Muslim extremists in Zanzibar, in concert with local government officials, have long limited the ability of Christians to obtain land for erecting worship buildings. In some cases they have destroyed existing buildings and put up mosques in their place.

Frustrated at obtaining government help to apprehend criminals, church leaders said they have little hope that the perpetrators of Monday’s attacks will ever be caught. In most cases the government sides with the attackers, delaying investigation out of fear of upsetting the majority Muslim population that opposes the spread of Christianity.

In 2009, officials in Mwanyanya-Mtoni colluded with area Muslims to erect a mosque in place of a planned church building of the EAGZ, Pastor Paulo Kamole Masegi said.

Pastor Masegi had purchased land in April 2007 for a church building in Mwanyanya-Mtoni, and by November of that year he had built a house that served as a temporary worship center, he said. Soon area Muslim residents objected.

In August 2009, local Muslims began to build a mosque just three feet away from the church plot. In November 2009, Pastor Masegi began building a permanent church structure. Angry Muslims invaded the compound and destroyed the structure’s foundation, the pastor said.

Church leaders reported the destruction to police, who took no action – and also refused to release the crime report, so that the case could not go to court, Pastor Masegi said.

Meantime, construction of the mosque was completed in December 2009. The planned church building’s fate appeared to have been sealed earlier this year when Western District Commissioner Ali Mohammed Ali notified Pastor Masegi that he had no right to hold worship in a house.

Zanzibar is the informal designation for the island of Unguja in the Indian Ocean. The Zanzibar archipelago united with Tanganyika to form the present day Tanzania in 1964.

Muslim traders from the Persian Gulf had settled in the region early in the 10th century after monsoon winds propelled them through the Gulf of Aden. The 1964 merger left island Muslims uneasy about Christianity, seeing it as a means by which mainland Tanzania might dominate them, and tensions have persisted.

18 Former ACORN Workers Convicted or Admitted Guilt in Election Fraud

The scandal-plagued ACORN may no longer exist, but its tarnished legacy lives on in court, as the activist group and its former employees face criminal punishment.

So far this year, at least 18 former workers have admitted guilt or been convicted on varying charges of election fraud. The punishment has ranged from probation to several months of prison time.

ACORN, once a powerful advocate for low-income and minority voters, shuttered its operations amid plummeting revenues in March, six months after conservative activists posing as a pimp and prostitute caught on video some of the group's employees offering them tax advice.

But the group is still facing charges in Nevada on conspiracy to commit the crime of compensation for registration of voters. The trial, originally scheduled to begin Monday, has been postponed likely until next year.

Former workers across the country already are being punished for their criminal activities

In Miami, seven former ACORN voter registration canvassers were convicted of "false swearing-in an election," and sentenced to probation and community service and banned from participating in future political campaigns, according to court documents.

In Pennsylvania, six of seven former ACORN workers who were charged in an investigation were convicted of unsworn falsification and interference with election officials. Four have reached a plea agreement on reduced charges and will serve two years of probation. Cases against two others who entered pleas to reduced charges are pending.

Charges against the seventh, Eric Jordan, are not being prosecuted because Jordan has pleaded guilty to much more serious charges, including aggravated assault, resisting arrest and carrying firearms without a license.

In Milwaukee, three former ACORN workers have been convicted of election fraud.

Last week, Kevin Clancy was sentenced to 10 months in prison for his role in submitting falsified voter registration forms before the 2008 election. Clancy will start his sentence once he finishes another sentence he is currently serving for armed robbery.

Clancy's co-worker, Maria Miles, who pleaded guilty to election fraud in August, will be sentenced on Dec.

6.

In September, Frank Walton pleaded guilty to submitting 54 fake voter registrations during the 2008 presidential campaign. He faces up to 42 months in prison and a $10,000 fine when he's sentenced Dec. 6.

In Washington state, Kendra Lynn Thill was convicted in March of voter registration fraud in the 2006 midterm election. In Nevada, a former ACORN supervisor pleaded the equivalent of a no-contest in a case alleging that canvassers were illegally paid to register voters during the 2008 campaign. But while Amy Busefink's plea acknowledges the state had evidence for a conviction at trial, her lawyer said she still plans to challenge the constitutionality of the state law prohibiting paying canvassers based on the number of voter registration forms they turn in.

Food Pantry Van And Food Stolen Day Before Thanksgiving

View more news videos at: http://www.nbcwashington.com/video.

It’s been extremely busy for the past couple of days at the Manna Food Center on Gaither Road in Montgomery County, Md.

“Today, we have over 350 people picking up food here,” said Executive Director Kim Damion.
So it was particularly hard to take what awaited staff and volunteers when they showed up for work Tuesday morning. One of their vans was gone.
"This is our busiest time of year," Damion said. "We really require all of our fleet to get out there and pick all of the donations that we have."
The van is distinctively marked with the Manna Food Center logo on the sides -- and fortunately, it was located in Rockville Tuesday afternoon.
The thieves also made off with some food from another truck at the Gaither Road facility.
"I really don’t know about people nowadays," said Audrey King, as she picked up food for herself and her disabled son. "I’ve been coming here for years. It’s really a big help."
Trung Vu said he heard that the center was low on turkeys so he went out and bought a trunk-load of frozen birds for the center. When told of the theft, he called it "absolutely horrible." As he unloaded turkeys from his car, he added, "We should all pull together."

Volunteer Joseph Harris found a silver lining, noting that no one has been injured. Still, the work they do at the center was going to be a little harder without the van.
"I mean, Manna’s here to serve the community," Damion said. "When they steal from Manna Food Center, they’re stealing from all of our residents here."

Purple Sweet Potato Pies May Possibly Help Fight Cancer Says One Professor

click to read full story from KTKA.com
Manhattan — Manhattan - Many K-State fans say they bleed purple, but soon they may be baking purple too.

New research at the university is studying whether pies baked with purple sweet potatoes can reduce the risk of cancer.

George Wang is a human nutrition professor at K-State who studies cancer prevention through dietary means. He is also leading the Purple Pride Sweet Potato Pie project, which stems from a project years ago.

These purple holiday concoctions all started with a K-State horticulturist named Ted Carey who got seeds from purple sweet potato parent plants from the potato center's germplasma bank in Peru. He stuck those seeds in Kansas soil and those potatoes gave Wang an idea.

"We think this special purple sweet potato is much higher in anthocyanins and may have potential cancer prevention," Wang said.

Anthocyanin is a pigment associated with reduced risk of cancer and higher levels are found in the purple sweet potatoes.

The idea to use the potatoes in a pie came from a student.

"Most of the sweetness comes from the natural color, so we actually cut in half the sugar used in a normal pie and whoever you’re testing, they still tell you it’s really sweet from the natural phytochemicals," Wang said.

Wang sees this as not only an opportunity to reduce the risk of cancer, but also to help out Kansas farmers.

Texas Teacher Suspended For Spanking Students

McKINNEY, Texas - Some parents believe in spanking their children. Others don’t. But what happens when teachers are accused of spanking students?

Bill and Stephanie Pappas said their 6-year-old son is afraid to go back to Reuban Johnson Elementary School because he told them his teacher spanks children regularly.

The Pappas are the first to admit that if any of their four children are unruly, Mom or Dad will discipline them.

“If a teacher were to come to me and tell me he’s doing this in class I can’t control him, he’d be put in time out or he would get a spanking if it warranted it,” Stephanie Pappas said.

But the couple is irate over the teacher spanking their son and other children, allegedly in front of the class. And their son told them the spankings will only get worse after Thanksgiving.

The Pappas spoke to the school’s principal.

A McKinney Independent School District spokesman said “the teacher in question is on administrative leave and is not allowed back on campus until the investigation into this incident is complete. We don’t tolerate spanking or any kind of corporal punishment.”

U.S. Aircraft Carrier Strike Group Sets Off For Korean Waters After North Korea Attacks

North Korea's attack on a South Korean island appears to be tied to the leadership succession, a top U.S. military official said Wednesday, as the elderly and frail Kim Jong Il prepares to hand control of his regime to his son.

Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in an interview on "The View" that Kim is generating these kinds of high-profile and dangerous confrontations to coincide with the ascension of his 27-year-old son to power.

Mullen said the United States is working with its South Korean and Japanese allies and also looking to China to exert its influence. The State Department said Wednesday that the administration wants China to restrain the North from further provocative acts. Spokesman P.J. Crowley, calling China "pivotal," said U.S. diplomats sent the message to Chinese officials in Washington and Beijing that the country has to make clear to Pyongyang that its actions are not acceptable.

The deadly strike on the tiny island came just six weeks after the North Korean leader unveiled his youngest son Kim Jong Un as his heir apparent. Analysts described the attack, which followed a claim that the country has a new uranium enrichment facility, as a cry for attention at a critical juncture.

Recent reports show the damage on the South Korean side to be worse than previously thought. Rescuers found the burned bodies Wednesday of two civilians. That was after two South Korean marines were killed and nearly 20 people were injured.

As South Korean troops remained on high alert and buildings continued to burn, a U.S. aircraft carrier strike group set off for Korean waters. President Obama called South Korean President Lee Myung-bak Tuesday night, saying the U.S. would work with the international community to strongly condemn the attack.

The White House said the two presidents agreed to hold combined military exercises and enhanced training in the days ahead to continue the close security cooperation between the two countries.

Obama described North Korea's attack as a "provocative" show of force that "needs to be dealt with."

"This is a -- just one more provocative incident in a series that we've seen over the last several months," Obama said in an interview with ABC, adding that he will be consulting with South Korea's president about their response. "We strongly condemn the attack, and we are rallying the international community to put pressure on North Korea."

He wouldn't comment on the likelihood of military action, but called it "a serious and ongoing threat that needs to be dealt with."

Christian Non-Profit Organization Love INC May Be Forced To Shut Down

click to read original story from Christian Post.com
A national nonprofit that unites churches to meet the needs of the poor has to raise $1 million in funds by year's end or the organization's headquarters will be forced to shut down.

Love In the Name of Christ’s mission, as stated on their website, is to “mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ.” However, the organization may soon halt its mission because of the economy.

“As the economy continues to struggle, there is an entirely new demographic of people who are in poverty. They are the new poor. This growth in demographics has required that Love INC step up to meet more needs," said Robert Odom, president of Love INC, in a recent statement. "We are answering God's call to help the poor; however new affiliates mean a greater need for funding at the headquarters.”

Since Odom’s start with Love INC – which was spun off from World Vision in 2003 – in 1996, the organization has gotten over 900 hundred churches involved and currently serves 1 million people in need.

He told The Christian Post, “It’s a state-of-the-art movement and the most effective ministry that’s out there.”

Across America, 43.6 million people or 14.3 percent of the population are living in poverty, according to a 2009 Census report. And double the numbers from a decade ago, almost 50 million people skip meals just to make ends meet – the definition of food insecurity. Children account for a fourth of those in poverty and almost oneof every two poor children lives in extreme poverty.

Love INC's headquarters in Minneapolis starts new affiliates and provides affiliate support and training. There are 16 new Love INCs that have started this year alone with six different denominations working together. It relies primarily on individual givers to meet its annual budget of $1.6 million. With the economy in the shape that it is, however, the budget may not be met by the end of this year.

“God has blessed us mightily and we just have run into a hardship like never before,” Odom said.
Since his public announcement of the possible shut down of the organization back in September, he said there have been ten times more contributions made. However, they have been small contributions.

“You can’t fail in the name of Christ, which is why this is so ironic,” Odom said.

Appealing to the public for support, he said, “We are desperate for major donors who believe in the call to bring the church together in communities across America to help those in need.

“When an affiliate has an impact on its community, other nearby communities also want to open an affiliate so that they can bring the church to the center of its community. That is what the church is called to do and that is why we have grown. We need givers who feel called to support this mission.”

Violinist Continues to Play After Losing Shoulder To Cancer

click to read original story from ABC Action News

ODESSA, Fla. - When Joe Ginem plays the violin, nothing else seems to matter.

"It's definitely my biggest passion."

Joe was coming into his own as a musician when four years ago, at 15, what started as a sore arm and shoulder turned out to be a rare form of bone cancer. Joe had Osteosarcoma. "When my arm finally gave out, I couldn't even pick up a pencil."

During a tough year there was no music for Joe. Just hospitals, surgery and chemotherapy. But he wasn't giving up. Not on his arm, and not on his violin.

"At one point I said to him it's not even about the arm anymore. You gotta save your life. And he just kept saying no, I know I'm going to play. And I need that arm," said a tearful Peggy Ginem, Joe's mother.

Treatments at Tampa's Moffit Cancer Center were successful, but John's shoulder had to be reconstructed. And there was a choice to make.

"My surgeon gave me the option of being able to make daily tasks easier or being able to play the violin better and I chose the musician route," said Ginem.

South Korea Vows Enormus Retaliation After Bombing From North Korea

click to read full story from Fox News

SEOUL, South Korea -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, who convened an emergency security meeting shortly after the bombardment by North Korea, said that an "indiscriminate attack on civilians can never be tolerated."

"Enormous retaliation should be made to the extent that (North Korea) cannot make provocations again," he said.

North Korea bombarded a South Korean island near their disputed western border Tuesday, setting buildings ablaze and killing at least two marines and injuring 16 others after warning the South to halt military drills in the area, South Korean officials said.

South Korea said it returned fire and scrambled fighter jets in response, and said the "inhumane" attack on civilian areas violated the 1953 armistice halting the Korean War. The two sides technically remain at war because a peace treaty was never negotiated.

The United Nations Security Council could hold an emergency meeting in the next day or two over the attack, saying "It's in the works for either today or tomorrow. We are for it and planning is ongoing," Reuters reports.

The United States, which has tens of thousands of troops stationed in South Korea, condemned the attack and called on North Korea to "halt its belligerent action," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said in Washington. He said the United States is "firmly committed" to South Korea's defense, and to the "maintenance of regional peace and stability."

The North's artillery struck the small South Korean-held island of Yeonpyeong, which houses military installations and a small civilian population and which has been the focus of two previous deadly battles between the Koreas.

A senior military official tells Fox News "no one is interested in escalating this, but we are taking this very seriously."

Drug Smuggling Tunnels Found At Mexico U.S Border

click to read full story from Fox News

Scores of trucks pass through Otay Mesa, California, each day, loading and dropping off cargo at various warehouses located just yards from the U.S.-Mexico border.

One warehouse bearing the name "Medi Int Enterprises" -- an alleged storage facility for toilet paper -- seemed to be running business as usual, equipped with a front desk and receptionist. Yet, on Nov. 3, 2010, Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents found they were storing much more than bathroom supplies.

ICE agents intercepted a truck leaving the warehouse and discovered 20,000 pounds of marijuana. An additional 32,000 pounds were found in 10-kilo bricks throughout the warehouse, making it the second largest seizure of marijuana in U.S. history. But, the biggest find was what lurked below.

Agents found 1,800 feet of tunnel running underneath the warehouse to Mexico. Designed with tracks and pulleys, the smuggling tunnel is the most recent to be discovered in a growing number popping up along border states.

Since Sept. 2001, 113 tunnels have been discovered -- a 63 percent increase in just the last two years. ICE agent Tim Durst said they are becoming an increasing threat with the “growing presence of law enforcement above ground.”

With tougher enforcement and new barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border, smugglers have become more creative in their methods, finding alternative routes by sea and land and now underground.

71 smuggling tunnels have been uncovered in Nogales, Arizona, with San Diego, California, a close second, counting 34 in both Otay Mesa and San Ysidro. The tunnels are "golden goose eggs" and if they're completed and become operational, they are of great value to smugglers, Durst said.

The majority of the tunnels ICE agents have found are unfinished, which makes this find that much more concerning to law enforcement. Durst says the tunnel in Otay Mesa took approximately a year to build, but had been operational for less than a month.

While the tunnels can be sophisticated drug smuggling routes, the engineering behind the creation of the tunnels is not. Would-be smugglers use jackhammers, concrete saws and shovels that can be purchased in retail hardware stores

Couple Posts Online Poll Whether Or Not To Abort Their Unborn Child

A Minnesota woman is putting the life of her unborn baby up for vote. She and her husband have posted a poll on a website asking people to vote on whether she should have an abortion.

Alisha Arnold of Apple Valley, Minnesota is 17 weeks pregnant. After suffering three miscarriages she says she and her husband are unsure if they're emotionally prepared to have a child. So now they're turning to the public to help them make their decision. Their online abortion vote is not without controversy.

In September, Alisha and Pete Arnold put their unborn baby's life up for a vote. Their website asks you to cast your ballot for or against an abortion.

"We really wanted to be able to let people voice their opinions," said Alisha.

Online skeptics accuse the couple of a publicity stunt with a hidden agenda.

"I would say our only agenda is just getting people's votes and their opinions," said Alisha.

JMC Ministries Response

If a person kills a pregnant women In the USA, he or she is then charged with killing not only the woman but also the unborn baby. But when a woman kills her unborn baby through abortion it is ok and is not murder. Then to take it this far and have people vote whether or not you should kill your child is just insane! A child's life hangs in the balance on whether more people vote to keep the baby or kill it! So our question is, if this couple decide to keep their child will they make more polls on how they should care for the child like, "do we feed the child or let it starve?" "Do we change he or she's diaper or let them sit in the poo poo or pee pee for a while longer?" Because this is just how crazy this already is. Already 5,000 people have voted to kill the baby! So if abortion was illegal in the USA like it use to be over 5,000 people will be contributing to the murder of this child if the woman so chooses to abort the baby!

This is America today and we are ashamed of what our Country has become. We as Christians and moral citizens of the United States need to to start taking a stand against things like this and start protecting even the most innocent of lives. Every life counts and every soul has been created for a purpose. Let us make the decision today who we will serve, the world or God!

DENAIR - 13-year-old Cody Alicea rides with an American flag on the back of his bike. He says he does this to be patriotic and to honor veterans, like his own grandfather, Robert. He's had the flag on his bike for two months but Monday, was asked told to take it down. A school official at Denair Middle School told Cody some students had been complaining about the flag and it was no longer allowed on school property. "In this country we're supposed to be free," said Cody. "And I should be able to wave my flag wherever I want to. And they're telling me I can't." Cody's grandfather says the school was concerned about racial tensions or uprisings because of the flag. He feels if there was really a problem it should have been brought up two months ago, not during Veterans week. "No action should be taken. We don't want any repercussion," said Roger. "We just want Cody to be proud of what he's doing."

Ohio Homeless Shelters Already Full Before Winter Sets In

click to read full story from Dayton Daily News

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Temperatures are dropping down into the 30s in Ohio. But for the homeless population in Columbus, that's not cold enough to guarantee people shelter.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the staff at Faith Mission had to turn away 41 men and women on Wednesday because all 514 beds were taken.

The weather forecast that night was 39 degrees and rainy. All people seeking shelter are guaranteed a place to stay when temperatures dip below 25 degrees.

The homeless shelter system in Columbus has been praised for its success in getting homeless people off the streets and into apartments.

It hasn't spent money on additional shelter beds in years. Michelle Heritage Ward, executive director of the Community Shelter Board, says the nonprofit group doesn't plan to change that this winter, but it will probably have to rent additional space for temporary beds and mats.

"My great hope is that we're starting to see an economic recovery," Ward said.

Don Strasser, director of the Columbus Coalition for the Homeless, says he supports the shelter system's focus on housing, but says it might be time to be flexible with the weather policy.

"But we've never seen it like it is now," he said. "To have to tell people that there is no bed for them because it's not yet 25 degrees is a pretty terrible feeling."

At another shelter last week, 24-year-old Nicole Moberly crawled into bed. She's almost nine months pregnant and works at a fast food restaurant. She says she's one of the lucky ones.

"I see others sleeping outside," Moberly said. "There's not enough room for everyone."

People have helped her line up an apartment and she's due to move in soon after her baby is born.

"I am blessed," she said. "It's really bad out there. I saw a girl as far along as I am sleeping out in the rain."

Persecution Of Christians In Iraq

TWO and a HALF MILLION Iraqis Christians fleeing persecution in Iraq, they have escaped the Islamic militias who slaughtered, kidnapped and tortured their family members and burned down their houses and churches in Baghdad and Mosul.

Since 2003, there has been a mass exodus of Christians from Iraq. Many of those who stayed behind have been kidnapped. Amidst the chaos, many churches succumbed to threats and closed their doors. On April 26, 2009, three Christians were killed and two others wounded in Kirkuk, Iraq. The attackers slit the throats of a Christian woman and her daughter-in-law, killing them both. Meanwhile, in a nearby neighborhood, gunmen attacked another Christian family, shooting the father and his three sons. One of the sons died instantly, and the others were wounded. In October 2008, more than seven Christians were killed and more than 200 families displaced.

Christians 'On Verge of Extinction' in Iraq, Muslim Leader Warns

By Brian Hutt|Christian Today Reporter

A Muslim leader is calling on the Iraqi government and US-led forces to step up their efforts to protect the Christian minority in Iraq from extinction.

Navaid Hamid, Secretary of the South Asian Council for Minorities (SACM) and a Muslim, said the deadly attack last weekend on a church in Baghdad was a heinous crime that should be strongly condemned by the international community.

“With the murderous attack, the safety of Iraq’s Christian minority has become critical and it is the prime responsibility not only of the regime in Baghdad but also that of the allied forces led by [the] US to restore confidence and provide safety because never in the history of Iraq, minorities were so vulnerable [sic],” he said.

Around 58 people are believed to have died when al-Qaida linked militants stormed the Our Lady of Salvation Church in Baghdad and opened fire on the congregation.

Hamid said Christians in Iraq were “paying a high price” for their faith and living in fear because of the “unprecedented” levels of violence against them.

“It is a fact that they are on the verge of extinction in Iraq,” he said.

An estimated 400,000 Christians have left Iraq and sought asylum in the US and Europe because of the persecution they face in Iraq.

The biggest victims of the US-led invasion of Iraq, Hamid said, were its minorities.

“[They] have become easy target [sic] for terrorist attacks in their own country,” he said.

Earlier this week, Christian and Muslim leaders issued a joint statement condemning the attack on the church in Baghdad. Signatories of the letter included Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad bin Talal of Jordan and representatives of the World Council of Churches.

They said the attack was an “inhumane” act that “contradicts all religious teachings and Middle Eastern culture that enabled people to coexist for many centuries”.

They called on the UN Security Council and Iraqi officials to put an end to terrorist attacks “aimed at degrading Iraqi people … and defiling Christian and Islamic sacred places.”

The Islamic State of Iraq, the group which claimed responsibility for the attack, has threatened to continue targeting Christians. It says it attacked the church in retaliation for the supposed detention of two women converts to Islam by the Coptic Church in Egypt.

According to the Associated Press, the Coptic Church’s head, Pope Shenouda III, said God had turned the attack to good by creating sympathy for his church.

Christians who turned up to St Mark’s Cathedral in Cairo for Wednesday’s service were made to pass through metal detectors before being allowed in.

Addressing the congregation, Shenouda said: “God either prevents evil or turns it to good. Affirming that everything turns to good, the message that reached us brought sympathy for us from the Noble Al-Azhar [a revered institution of higher learning in Egypt] and from many writers and journalists and the interior ministry and police.”

In Iraq, armed security guards have been placed outside some churches after last Sunday's attack.

Zach Howell Chairman, College Republican National Committee Thanks Jeremy Caverley Vice President of Ohio University-Chillicothe College Republicans

Dear Jeremy,

What a week to be a Conservative! On Tuesday, we made history. We elected the largest Republican majority in the House in 70 years, and cut deeply into the Democrat majority in the Senate. We've elected strong leaders who will restore fiscal responsibility, and begin to push back on the damaging policies put in place by the liberal majority over the past four years. I'm proud to say that together, we have played a major part in this historic victory.

College Republicans nationally accounted for 65,000 volunteer hours on behalf of Republican candidates. More than 30,000 new College Republican volunteers were recruited in the two months leading up to Election Day, and in total, these volunteers made more than two million voter contacts. College Republicans were the ground troops that made this victory possible, and we couldn't have done it without your generous assistance. You have been a vital part of our team.

With Election Day behind us, we at the College Republican National Committee are turning our attention to the battles ahead. Liberal professors will still be working to brainwash another generation of American college students, and we will be working just as hard to restore intellectual balance on campus. President Obama will still be pursuing failed tax and spend policies, and we will be working to educate young Americans on the perils they face as a result of this unsustainable fiscal policy. The Democratic Party will begin its efforts to recreate the army of young people that helped propel the President to power, and we will continue to mobilize the students who delivered the President a humbling defeat on November 2nd. Our work goes on, and I want you to know how vital your continued support will be to our efforts.

Thank you again for all you have done for the College Republican National Committee and our country.

With Gratitude,

Zach Howell
Chairman, College Republican National Committee

Man Dressed As Jesus Kicked Out Of Church

A man dressed as Jesus was kicked out of a St. Louis area church Sunday. Police were even called to get in the middle of the spiritual showdown. "We're called to be ambassadors for Jesus Christ, ambassadors should represent, and that's what I do. I try to represent my Lord and savior Jesus Christ," said Neal Thompson Monday night, wearing the same white robe and cross, and carrying the same staff he's been using every Sunday for 22 years.

He dresses up like Jesus every week, going to a new church every week, he says, to spread his Christian message.

"He said 'Take up your cross, your breastplate, and your staff and follow in Jesus Christ's footsteps and wear a white robe to show your sincerity,'" he said. "That's my job, to spread the word."
He says he is questioned most weeks, but then welcomed. But when he tried to enter St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Des Peres, he was not allowed in.

"One of the deacons saw me," he said, "and when I went in the church he met me and he said, 'Can I help you? What do you want?' I said, 'I want to go to church here today.' And he said, 'What do you believe in? Are you Christian? What religion are you?' I said, 'I'm a Christian.'"

Thompson said he was not allowed in the sanctuary. Church members told him he'd have to sit in the hallway.

"And I said, 'Well this ain't right, you guys ain't treating me right.' He said, 'We're gonna call the police.' I said, 'Well call them, I don't care. Call them.' So I sat down and the next thing I know four or five police showed up."

The church secretary referred us to Des Peres police, who did not even write a report. They say Thompson wasn't causing a scene, but they asked him to leave and he did, peacefully.

"Oh I forgive them, I forgive them," said Thompson.

He said this was only the second time he's been kicked out of a church in the last 22 years.

Washington Times Calling For Impeachment Of President Obama

President Obama has engaged in numerous high crimes and misdemeanors. The Democratic majority in Congress is in peril as Americans reject his agenda. Yet more must be done: Mr. Obama should be impeached.

He is slowly - piece by painful piece - erecting a socialist dictatorship. We are not there - yet. But he is putting America on that dangerous path. He is undermining our constitutional system of checks and balances; subverting democratic procedures and the rule of law; presiding over a corrupt, gangster regime; and assaulting the very pillars of traditional capitalism. Like Venezuela's leftist strongman, Hugo Chavez, Mr. Obama is bent on imposing a revolution from above - one that is polarizing America along racial, political and ideological lines. Mr. Obama is the most divisive president since Richard Nixon. His policies are Balkanizing the country. It's time for him to go.

He has abused his office and violated his oath to uphold the Constitution. His health care overhaul was rammed through Congress. It was - and remains - opposed by a majority of the people. It could only be passed through bribery and political intimidation. The Louisiana Purchase, the Cornhusker Kickback, the $5 billion Medicaid set-aside for Florida Sen. Bill Nelson - taxpayer money was used as a virtual slush fund to buy swing votes. Moreover, the law is blatantly unconstitutional: The federal government does not have the right to coerce every citizen to purchase a good or service. This is not in the Constitution, and it represents an unprecedented expansion of power.

Yet Obamacare's most pernicious aspect is its federal funding of abortion. Pro-lifers are now compelled to have their tax dollars used to subsidize insurance plans that allow for the murder of unborn children. This is more than state-sanctioned infanticide. It violates the conscience rights of religious citizens. Traditionalists - evangelicals, Catholics, Baptists, Muslims, Orthodox Jews - have been made complicit in an abomination that goes against their deepest religious values. As the law is implemented (as in Pennsylvania) the consequences of the abortion provisions will become increasingly apparent. The result will be a cultural civil war. Pro-lifers will become deeply alienated from society; among many, a secession of the heart is taking place.

Mr. Obama is waging a frontal assault on property rights. The BP oil spill is a case in point. BP clearly is responsible for the spill and its massive economic and environmental damage to the Gulf. There is a legal process for claims to be adjudicated, but Mr. Obama has behaved more like Mr. Chavez or Russia's Vladimir Putin: He has bullied BP into setting up a $20 billion compensation fund administered by an Obama appointee. In other words, the assets of a private company are to be raided to serve a political agenda. Billions will be dispensed arbitrarily in compensation to oil-spill victims - much of it to Democratic constituents. This is cronyism and creeping authoritarianism.

Mr. Obama's multicultural socialism seeks to eradicate traditional America. He has created a command-and-control health care system. He has essentially nationalized the big banks, the financial sector, the automakers and the student loan industry. He next wants to pass "cap-and-trade," which would bring industry and manufacturing under the heel of big government. The state is intervening in every aspect of American life - beyond its constitutionally delegated bounds. Under Mr. Obama, the Constitution has become a meaningless scrap of paper.

To provide the shock troops for his socialist takeover, Mr. Obama calls for "comprehensive immigration reform" - granting amnesty to 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens. This would forge a permanent Democratic electoral majority. It would sound the death knell for our national sovereignty. Amnesty rewards lawlessness and criminal behavior; it signifies the surrender of our porous southern border to a massive illegal invasion. It means the death of American nationhood. We will no longer be a country, but the colony of a global socialist empire.

Rather than defending our homeland, Mr. Obama's Justice Department has sued Arizona for its immigration law. He is siding with criminals against his fellow Americans. His actions desecrate his constitutional oath to protect U.S. citizens from enemies foreign and domestic. He is thus encouraging more illegal immigration as Washington refuses to protect our borders. Mr. Obama's decision on this case is treasonous.

As president, he is supposed to respect the rule of law. Instead, his administration has dropped charges of voter intimidation against members of the New Black Panther Party. This was done even though their menacing behavior was caught on tape: men in military garb brandishing clubs and threatening whites at a polling site. A Justice Department lawyer intimately involved in the case, J. Christian Adams, resigned in protest. Mr. Adams says that under Mr. Obama, there is a new policy: Cases involving black defendants and white victims - no matter how much they cry for justice - are not to be prosecuted. This is more than institutionalized racism. It is an abrogation of civil rights laws. The Justice Department's behavior is illegal. It poses a direct threat to the integrity of our democracy and the sanctity of our electoral process.

Corruption in the administration is rampant. Washington no longer has a government; rather, it has a gangster regime. The Chicago way has become the Washington way. Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is a political hit man. He is an amoral, ruthless operator. It was Mr. Emanuel who reached out to Rep. Joe Sestak, Pennsylvania Democrat, offering a high-ranking job in the hopes of persuading Mr. Sestak to pull out of the primary against Sen. Arlen Specter. It was Mr. Emanuel who offered another government position to Andrew Romanoff to do the same in the Colorado Democratic Senate primary. And it was Mr. Emanuel - as the trial of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has revealed - who acted as the go-between to try to have Valerie Jarrett parachuted into Mr. Obama's former Senate seat. The only question was: What did Mr. Blagojevich want in exchange?

Shots Fired At U.S Coast Guard Recruiting Office In Virginia

click to read full story from Fox News

Police in Virginia say at least one shot was fired overnight at a Coast Guard recruiting station in Woodbridge, just days after an unidentified gunman fired shots at the Washington-area Marine Corps museum.

Sgt. Kim Chinn, spokeswoman for the Prince William County Police Department, said Tuesday that detectives are investigating multiple bullet holes at the building on Potomac Mills Circle. It appears the shooting occurred overnight, she said.

No injuries have been reported and it was not immediately known if the incident is connected to other recent shootings at military-related establishments in the area.

The FBI's Washington field office is also investigating.

The FBI last week said an unidentified gunman who fired shots at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Va., is believed to be responsible for three similar shootings and may have a vendetta against the U.S. Marine Corps.

Why should Christians Vote?

I have been told that "Christians" should just put their "faith & trust" in God and NOT man! While this is true, the body of Christ must UNITE and SUPPORT Conservative value candidates and VOTE for the TRUTH of Jesus Christ to be represented in the White House!

Take the time to find out who these candidates are and what they stand for. If you just sit by and do nothing you are taking a stand for EVERYTHING that happens in D.C. Learn who these people are and ask deep questions to prepare yourself to vote!

God will be blessed as you pray and support men & women who want to see Jesus lifted high in the White House!
