Man grants wife's wish after 65 years of marriage: MyFoxBOSTON.com

WAYLAND (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A 97-year-old man had one last wish: to finally give his wife an engagement ring.

A few weeks ago, Everett "Pops" Potter enrolled in a hospice program at the Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he and his wife of 65 years, Betty, live.

Pops' health is failing and doctors do not give him much time. But there is one thing he always wished he had done. Today, that wish came true.

Pops and Betty renewed their vows in Milford, N.H. -- where they were wed -- and Pops presented her with a diamond wedding ring.

"I never gave her one,’" Pops told the Boston Globe . "I was saving money.’"

Life Choice Hospice offers patients a final wish. The center and the hospice purchased a .40-carat solitaire with 14-carat yellow gold mounting for him from Long's Jewelers . They bused the Potters to the store in Natick to pick it up, and then to Milford for the ceremony.
